Hi,

How can I tell if my s56 is using GSM 850 vs. GSM 1900?

Thanks,

The easiest and most accurate way to tell what freq you are on is to put the netmonitor on your phone. According to RenoWirelessGuru, channels 128-251 are 850 and 512-810 are 1900. I have found that to be accurate.

Here is a great thread about Netmonitor and how to get it on your phone. netmonitor thread

Good to keep that one alive.

Other than that, the only thing I can tell you is get another sim, put it in the N3650 you have, and do a manual search. You shouldnt be able to see any 850 network with the nokia. You should also realize that in some markets they overlap freq's. They can run both 850 and 1900. So that would make it harder to see because the N3650 would still see the 1900 network. So the most accurate way is the Netmonitor.

Looks like it is all 1900 in my part of the SF Bay area. The channels are all in the 590-800 range.
