DIY pop-port to 2.5mm adapter

I'm thinking of converting the pop-port plug from the boom headset that comes with my Nokia 6610 into a pop-port adapter for 2.5mm jack. (Why? There are more BT headset options for phones with 2.5mm headset jack).

The idea is pretty simple, cut the cord near the base pop-port plug, attach a female 2.5mm jack from Radio Shack, and I've got a simple pop-port adapter similar to this one: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/2208.htm, but this DIY model will have a dongle instead of a box.

My question is, does anyone know the wiring specs on the boom headset cable? It's prolly pretty straightforward, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks

Would be VERY interested in such a mod.

Timid to try it myself because of shielded wiring and the complication of the hands free being the FM antennae.......

hmmmm.

It was a retail store here. I think the main retail store for the area though.

hi upilogue, does it mean if I buy the 'Nokia 'Pop-Port' Hands Free

Base Adapter' from mobilefun.co.uk...I can use my own sony

earphone to listen to radio & mp3???

Not sure if a stereo earphone would work because the wiring for a mono headset uses one wire for microphone. But maybe it would. Also note that a 2.5mm jack is smaller then the regular 3.5mm jack found on computer, portable audio players, etc.

If anyone is interested, please PM me - I'm selling mine for $8.50 shipped anywhere in the US; it's like new, opened box. I bought it a few weeks ago but decided to use my pop-port headset. Thx.
