Are accessories for the new Sanyo 5400 and 5500 phones interchangable? Primarily interested in batteries, chargers, and data cables.

I have a 5400 and will be getting a 5500 - would like to be able to swap batteries if needed and to use the same chargers.

I was told by the local Radio Shack that the car charger is the same as for the Sanyo 5300 and 8100 - can anyone confirm that?

Also - never had a data cable before. Apparently there are multiple cables/programs that can be used. Can anyone recommend a cable and program that would be compatable with the new phones?

I bought the car charger that listed the 8100 and 5300 and it works with the 5400. They actually list hte RL2500(5400) on the packaging.

Yes you are correct on the car charger which means the data cable from the 4900 and up should work, software on the other hand is a different story. Also if you have one of Sprint's standardized chargers it will fit in the 5400 just like it did in the 8100. The 7200 is not compatible with standardized however.

I also found out that the 5400 and the 5500 leather case and holster will be for both. The battery on the 5300 does not fit the 5400 and I would imagine that it wouldn't fit the 5500 either

The 5300 battery will not work on the 5400, not sure about the 5500. They batteries are different.

Has anyone purchased the belt clip holster? They show a generic holster on Sprint's website. I was wondering if it swivels 90-degrees so that when you wear it on your belt, it will be on it's side (antenna pointing straight forward).

The sprint store by me carries a holster that moves, and maybe 90º. All or most leather cases Sprint carries are locking swivel clips that can be rotated a complete 360º. I would check it out ASAP as the 8100 holsters did the same thing and then Sprint went to a cheaper one that did not swivel at all. I bought a holster and when it broke the new one was stationary.

I just got my belt clip holster the other day. It swivels 360 deg. and takes some getting used to. inserting it into the holster is a snap (literally) but getting it out can be another story. It works well, but sometimes I think I might snap off the plastic tab on top when I try to get the phone out. Keeps it real secure though.

I just picked up my 5500/vm4500 ... for those interested in a 5400/5550 comparision - the batteries for the phones are interchangable.

The chargers are also interchangable, but different.

The charger that comes with the 5400 is the SCP-07ADT which has a connector that fits in to the large accessory connector.

The 5500 comes with the SCP-08ADT which has a very small round connector, presumably so the power can be used while an accessory connector is being used.

Haven't had a chance to use the phone much, but looks cool. Also haven't found an extended battery in the blue yet, but as I said the one for the 4500/RL2500 works fine.

anybody know a good place i can get a genric one for less hten teh 30 dollars sprint wants to charge me. the phone alone broke my bank but i needed a new phone so i figured why not.

forgot to look back for replies about the holster... thanks for the reply. I have one more question for you...

does the back of the phone with it's standard battery sit flush against the holster, or is there a gap there so that the extended battery can be accomidated?

Leather Case = Same for 5400 / 5500

Car Charger = Same for 5400 / 5500

Extended Battery = Same but it's Silver for 5400 and Blue for 5500, All Sprint Stores should have both, some stores may be out of stock currently.

Desktop Charger - Only on Sanyo's website -- Sprint doesn't sell it yet.

Data Cable: Same for 5400 / 5500 --- Same data cable will work with 4900 - 5300 - 8100
