Just to add to the mix when ordering some stuff from Brando recently I noticed that they recently released custom screen protectors for the p900 as well. Brando screen protectors have always been my favorite.

I was keeping the yucky plastic thing that comes with the P900 on for a couple of days. Problem with that plastic protector... it makes handwriting recog impossible. Plus you can't really see worth a damn!

quick tip: Did you know that the MFOP for the P800 will cover 98.9% of the P900's display? Well, I transferred the screen protector until doml gets in their P900 MFOPs. Poor P800 is running naked!

Posted by: sdsviet

so which one is really worth the money. i just got my p900 and yea the plastic on that thing sucks ***. brando is 3 for $12 and boxwave is 3 for $30. i think $10 for 1 is pretty steep.

Posted by: Jax826

so..for brando...3 screen protectors in one package?

Posted by: lgreenberg

No, Brando's come ONE per package.

Posted by: darkmark

looks like its boxwave then?

anyone tried any of their screen protectors?

Boxwave is definitely "best of breed." They are, in short, superb. I'm using them on my Tungsten T3 and have ordered the P900 model.

buy 1 of the boxwave. 1 is all you will ever need. they last pretty long. by the time it wears out, you will probably have a new handset.

i agree with larry. top of the line.

I just wanted to point something out.

After reading the review posted in the above link I went ahead and ordered a couple Boxwave screen protectors for my Treo 600 since they preferred them over the Brando ones. I have always used Brando protectors on my devices.
The Boxwave protectors arrived today. Imagine my surprise when I opened them up and found them to be THE EXACT SAME THING as the Brando ones. Even the little tag that says "remove this backing" is exactly the same on both the Boxwave and the Brando. Even the packaging is EXACTLY the same. Take away the logo insert each company puts in the packaging and you're left with the EXACT same screen protector.

I don't understand how Brighthand could fail to mention this in their review. Thankfully I don't mind having an extra screen protector laying around but I can't help looking at it as a complete waste of money.

MFOP for the P900, you cant go wrong, using the Brando one is like having eye cataracts.

Posted by: lgreenberg

Wait, the Martin Fields are the SAME as the boxwave? Which means to me the Martin, Brando and Boxwave are all the same?

Posted by: darkmark

well today i ordered a boxwave protector from thus and a martin fields from the uk will hopefully b gettin my p900 on thurs and shud get the screen protectors that week so i wont hav to use my p900 without a screen protector....which is nice!
ill try them both and post a reply letin you know what in my humble opinion what i think of th 2 never using a screen protector before!?
anyone know if these are adhesive or static fit?

dm

Posted by: ScottV

Damn, are all these protectors the same, only the name changes???

confusing this thread is

Posted by: lgreenberg

That's what I would like to know.

I know for a fact that the Boxwave and the Brando are EXACTLY the same as I've gotten both in the last two weeks.

I ordered and am awaiting shipment of a Martin Fields protector. I'm going to be even more angry if it's the same as the other two.

Posted by: Testa_ross4

MFOP is static, I believe most are, or at least should be, a layer of adhesive will interfere with screen sensitivity.

They are the same because a screen protector is basically a thin large sheet of plastic, which is punch cut into the required size and all the marketing cos practically get them from the same few sources, so only the packaging and branding is different, if you have enough time and some knowledge of the market, do attend some trade shows and you may even find the supplier for MFOP, no magic here.

i can only speak for the boxwave protector. it is an adhesive style protector, but the adhesive only has a light tack. it is very nice...because it is easy to reposition if you don't apply it correctly the first go. plus you can remove the protector, wash it under water, and it does not loose its tack.

check out this review of screen protectors for pocket pc's/palms:

hope this helps!

Using the Overlay Plus now after replacing a cut up one used for PDA's and its amazing. Very nice feel to write on and it does NOT affect the image quality shining through, as it also reduces the glare
Very happy with it and I have heard this was 10X better than the Brando one. (there was a p800 comparison of the 2).

I have used the SymMobile screen protector for my P900 for around a month. I think for two things that most people worry the most are the how clear the screen protector is and how good that it is against scratches as made by the stylus. So far I think our materials is great. It's clear, and I see no scratches though I have purposely write on the screen a little bit harder than I should. Some of our customers wrote back and told us that they have small bubbles during the few couple days after they applied the screen protectors, but as long as those are not big bubbles, they will eventually disappear (I think somehow you will squeeze out the air as you write more on the screen protector with your stylus).

I would like to hear more feedbacks from you guys about the SymMobile screen protector. So order one and have a try. It's not the same as Brando's or MF's.

We are currently deciding on which brands to carry in our screen protector section. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Brando protector on our P800 as it's outdoor usage is best, and it's very durable. But, I agree with many of you out there that the Brando is a bit cloudy and takes away from screen clarity--not to be exaggerated for distorted vision.

We will continue to carry the Brando protectors, but wish to add either the Boxwave or MFO+ to our product line up. Of course, the prices will be the same as those sold and shipped from HK, but they will ship same-day from our Southern California warehouse, fully insured with tracking number.

Give us a hand and vote for best screen protector by clicking *HERE*

Carrying both the Boxwave and the Brando makes little sense to me as they are the same exact thing, just different packaging.

For those of you wondering if the MFOP is the same as Brando and Boxwave, here's a picture of the packaging:

Just got MFOP from domL today and how it looks cool! Like a new screen after using that protecter that comes with the Phone. Nice feel and fit, just make sure there are no specks of dust before you stick it on.

Also got the battery inlay that is supposed to increase call & standby times by around 30%. Had it on all day and it seems to work. Will try running a movie to really test it tomorrow.

Posted by: darkmark

cheech wherdya get your mfop from? uk? and how long was delivery?
i ordered mine from mobilefun.co.uk on mon and apparantly there out of stock so dont know when mines arriving?

dm

Posted by: Jiffy

darkmark - I've a feeling Cheech did what I've just done and ordered directly from the Doml site. It works out about £3 cheaper buying direct from them. You can also be a bit more confident about them having stock!

Posted by: Cheech

Jiffy's right, DarkMark. I ordered mine from domL and it came in 2 days! I had to pay a custom fee though of £16.92.

It's a great screen cover, clear as if there's none.

Posted by: Jiffy

WHAT? Customs fee? £16.92?

Woah, that can't be right. How much was your order? AFAIK they don't touch orders under £18 in value. Mine's is about £9.50. There's noooooo way I'm paying £16.92 on my order. The customs can keep the MFOP if they want that much.

Posted by: Cheech

I ordered 2 of the battery boosting pads as well and it came to 30 odd quid with postage. Didn't expect the charge though!

Posted by: Jiffy

£30? You'd have been better placing multiple orders. Seriously, that's the way to go if you ordering over £18 of stuff.

I'm hoping mines should be fine since it's waaay under the threshold.

Okay I can finally put this comparison issue to bed. My Martin Fields protector came today so know I've tried all three: Brando, Boxwave and Martin Field.

1. The Brando and Boxwave are EXACTLY the same product.

2. The Martin Fields, although it looks the same, installs the same is different then the others. Both the Brando and the Boxwave have an almost frosted appearance to them. The Martin Fields is clear.

3. I did seem to end up with a few more bubbles on the Martin Fields then with the other though. They may go away after time though.

So in short, of the three, the Martin Fields is the best choice, in my opinion. All three are applied the same way, but the Martin Fields has a much clearer look to it. It's almost as if the Brando and the Boxwave have some extra coating layer added to them that the Martin Fields do not. I have no idea if this effects the over all life of the screen protector. Time will tell.
