WOW i finally figured out how to upload pictures from my webserver to my phone,I also got the Ringtones to the phone ,
I can hear them and save them but they won't save to the phone mmmmmm
I must have the midi MIME wrong .
I'm gone keep fishing

I have tried the Coldplay ringtone on my Blade from Telus - it works and successfully saved. However, the image file has got no luck. It seems Blade cannot recognize the .png graphic file type.

You canget the picture to work on your Blade just have to get the right MIME type for your phone.
I'm suprised you can use the midi,becuase these are for slider phones

Well i want ringtones and BELL cannot provide me with ringtones yet so i ahev to get them some how

If you just put in my IP adress in your phone now , you will be able to see all 250 Ringtones and download them.
After you see all the sound files got to MENU bottum off screan and choose links only and youll just see the song without all info
Let me know if it works ok.
I will post how to do this if it works ok.
Now my site is not 24 hours but mostly on at night.

All i can say try it.
You type it in where it says go to web or go to ulr .
I usually run it open between 1800hours and 2200 hours.
And maybe a bit mor on weakends.
But if need help you can do this your self. I aded tuns off pics as well.

To all of those who own a slider and wonder where to type this stuff in, some people on cellphonehacks.com found out how.

i get a '406: Not Acceptable' error, more details gives '1015: Invalid content type' is this just me? i know the server is up because i can access it in internet explorer from my computer. im on a Virgin slider by the way. other content work but not your server. any ideas? i get the following error using www.mobone.com's wapbrowser:

INVALID WML DATA

The requested URL contained invalid WML data and cannot be displayed.

any ideas? anyone get it to work? i would love to be able to get some rings and wall from your site.

thanks a bunch i drove my self crazy trying to figure out where to type it inn ,i got yahoo to work but when i try to access your site i get this "500: Web service problem. Please contact the service provider."and sometimes i get this sevice not avaliable so i retry and i get whats stated above any help would be great

otaque.. yeah, ive seen the link to "download this polytone" .. but, i dont know where it downloads to. When i click the link, it just starts playing the file. I know its different on your phone, but where does it download to on your phone?

After downloading the ringtone, the phone presents several options. I'd save the ringtone and disconnect the minibrowser.

The downloaded ringtone will now be in my 'Fun & Games -> Ringtones' under with the name 'download'.

From there I'd choose 'Assign' to select the newly downloaded ringtone as my default.

These are specific to Kyocera Blade, your steps might vary.

thanks for replying... but i think it maybe just my phone. because after ive 'downloaded' it.. i dont see it anywhere on my phone. or maybe the site isnt compatable with my phone... yet. hopefully they'll update their site to make it work with the 5450. anyways, great site nonetheless.. good find.

I've tried it with my slider and it works. Only problem is that I dunno how to rename the files... and the all download with the name "download" so they just keep overwritting each other.

But it works... good stuff!!!

Can you tell us what .png properties your Slider will take? I understand Slider should have a different resolution than the Blade. I have tried to experiment with the 104 x 49 pixel, 96 pixel per inch, 24-bit color png files. However, my Blade is still not taking it.

Here is what i did i logged in to this site with my phone and after i looged in and choose MIME i got a code from that site to put in this little box on the site off the URL
Then it spits all info out from your phone what it can se and take.
Copy and paste that info you'll need it to download songs and pics from your own web server.
here is the site.

log in with your phone, get the code go to your PC browser and punch in the code whala there are all your codes for the phone.
Then go get MYWEBSERVER from http://www.mywebserver.org/us/
and set it up with some off the MIME codes abd you can get what you want.
I found any size picture works as long its UNDER 8KB
Try my site i'll leave it up all night and turn it off in the DAYTIME.
I have tunz off cool pics and 250 ringers.

So it appears the Kyocera 2325 does indeed support polyphonic ringers via MIDI, I dont know what the smm format is, I do know that kws is the standard non pony ringer format and it appears they can be downloaded via wap, so now that I have the mime info what can I do with it to get polyphonic ringers to my 2325?

regarding downloading of polyphonicringtonez.com onto my kyocera blade. Each download is labelled as 'download' and seems to overwrite the previous download.. how can i make it so i can store more than one?? any way to rename the file?

from that site, i dont believe you can rename the downloaded tones from "download"
but if you can download a midi file on your computer and host it on your own server (such as using mywebserver software) then you can name them and load them into your phone, provided the midi files are less than 8kb

What format are the wallpapers that come with the Kyocera Slider V5 in? What format are they saved in when they are saved under the 'Doodler' program? And also, what format are the ringtones in?

I received this reply

Thank you for emailing Virgin Mobile USA. That question is a bit too
technical for us over here!! Actually, I do know that the Ringtones are
polyphonic and I am pretty sure that the wallpapers are PDF formatting.
If you would like to find out for sure I would recommend checking out
the Kyocera website.

Just so you know if you are trying to download any extra things for your
phone or if you are trying to use your phone as a modem; a restriction
has been installed to not allow you to do so. You are only at this time
able to download Ringtones from our website and the MTV and VH1 website.

So all you Virgin Mobile users out there, petition for new wallpaper! Maybe we can compromise and Virgin Mobile will carry loads of wallaper for like 10 or 20 cent fees

All I want is to add new wallpaper to my phone so its more like me, the ringtones reflect the user, but you guys forgot the wallpaper too!!

I've figured out how to download KWS ringers over the air with a webserver on my own pc by setting the MIME types but I'm still not having any luck with polyphonic ringers, I set the mime type in the webserver to associate .mid files to "audio/midi" for the phone and it always says invalid data or some crap like that. and what the hell is an SMM file type?

No i can leave it on for a while ,I'll slowly be putting songs on there for you .
I have 250 to put on there and wallpapers as well.
I see people try to hack in to my system as well. Dont bother its a linux box protecting me.

I was already told I think that this cannot be done with Virgin Mobile Sliders. So all of you with Virgin Mobile as your provider, we are screwed. They have a filter to keep us from getting anything we want. But somehow they leave WAP unfiltered, just downloading images and MIDIs are filtered...

Sorry to jump in...

1. wirelezz is a Bell Mobility subscriber in Canada. Bell happens to offer the Slider as well.

2. Many carriers have their MMS server firewall not allow ringtones, pictures download from other sources than their pay sites. Also, certain SOCs have to be enabled and authenticated on the network side. No doubt about it. However, if case after case many Kyocera handset owners with different carriers (at least Bell and Telus in Canada) can SUCCESSFULLY download the ringtones and/or pictures, you cannot deny the fact.

BTW, try to get this one from my site:

Do not worry about copyright... unless Her Majesty wanna stop me!

If it works, meaning that something at the carriers are not 100% secure... which applies to my case and fellow Blade owners at Telus!

Have you tried that link i gave you where it give's you your mime types?
If you can find your mime types here with this link then your set.
our phones are CDMA is virgin CDMA or is it GSM?
try this link on your phone and then go to your PC browser and type in the code it gave you on your cell, You'll see what your phone can do and can't http://phones.iridani.cx/
I had to disable my site for now becuase of hackers allready.
But if you want to try my site for downloads ill put it up.

Now you can clearly see mine allows MIDI and PNG.
Looks like you can download Pictures in PNG for mat but i dont see any sort of MIDI file in your list

So as you can see i USE these 2 and they work.
You even have to have a WML code in your own browser for your phone to see a WAP page
these are the once i picked out off the list to use as MIME types to get my tunes and pics.

That is a mystery to be solved. Verizon somehow does the same thing with their phones, and there are no mimetypes for it.

ergo, they have another method. It's some kind of OTA prgramming related to how the service provider can provision the phone and activate it over the air.

You guys see no audio MIME types, but there are IMAGE MIME types, is anyone able to use this to their advantage? Maybe get new wallpapers or allow the viewing of full color PNG images on their slider (With Virgin Mobile Sliders )

2. Many carriers have their MMS server firewall not allow ringtones, pictures download from other sources than their pay sites. Also, certain SOCs have to be enabled and authenticated on the network side. No doubt about it. However, if case after case many Kyocera handset owners with different carriers (at least Bell and Telus in Canada) can SUCCESSFULLY download the ringtones and/or pictures, you cannot deny the fact.

Do not worry about copyright... unless Her Majesty wanna stop me! If it works, meaning that something at the carriers are not 100% secure... which applies to my case and fellow Blade owners at Telus!

Also, I never said Virgin Mobile was the ONLY one to offer the phone, or service for it, and yes I know it has been done, what I AM SAYING, is that currently, the phone with Virgin Mobile programming (The most widespread US version) is incapable of retrieving images or MIDI tones via WAP or any other method (including data cable)

my 2325 has audio mime types for .KWS (which I've sucessfully downloaded ringers over the air on my own server) .SMM (whatever these are I dont know) and midi but no matter what midi files I try to use do not work. I'm going to pester Kyocera again on Monday and talk to a tech and see if I can squeeze anything out of them again.. hehe

well hello all i 2 have been able to get ring tones for my slider from that site and i seem to be able to only get a ringtone a day but they just overwrite each other any way does any one know why the bell site to get ringtones is not workin?

well Kyocera blew me off and pissed me off about the whole thing, I'm buying a Motorola T720 tommorow and throwing the 2325 in the trash, last Kyocera I buy, they act like they are the fricken CIA or something withholding "secrets" oh well.

ive got the song i want from the 'free polyphonic' website saved on my 8900... but i just dont kno how to set it as a ringtone?

it saves under sound clips, and then when i go to change my ringer, i dont have access to sound clips?

can anyone PLEASE help??

on the slider, the clip saves in a folder called "my sounds". when you have the clip highlighted in that folder, the options are "play", "assign", "delete", etc. is that how the 8900 works? I dunno.

i believe that virgin mobile is either uses cdma or pcs technology because virgin mobile uses the Sprint network towers for their cell phones. btw how can you create mime .mid files?

PCS and CDMA are the same thing, CDMA is a wireless protocol and PCS is just the frequency range its in (1900Mhz)

Sprint and Virgin mobile are CDMA PCS networks, Virgin does use Sprints network.

No not everyone got the stuff going with the D/L. Especially VirginMobile users (A lot of us with the Slider). We are completely unable to load anything from any external site.

I've tried emailing myself a png file(wallpaper) as an attachment, they'll ask you to download and once you say yes it'll just throw an error message "Unacceptable" or something like that.

I never got any option that said download, my attachment did not appear at all! It was a small png file (<8K) Not sure what is wrong, can anyone with Virgin Mobile even VIEW pictures on their phone???

I have tried a bunch of stuff ... everything from emailing myself midi files (and what was it.. .KWS? files) .. and pictures..

Those who are able to display pictures on your Slider, can you explain what format you are using along with size (dimensions)/format/16/24/23bit color? If you have a test picture that works, post it on a webpage somewhere to see if VM sliders can access it also. I'm wondering if I am not using True PNG or jpg files...

When I go to polyphonicringtonez, everything seems to work fine until I click "Download this PolyTone!" When I do so, I get "406: Not Acceptable". This is on my Kyocera Slider V5.

Edited for more info: when I click Details, it says "1015: Invalid content type."

its not just on VM sliders i get the same problem on my bell slider, ive been on these forums for a few weeks now and still havent found a solution to downloading images without paying 2 bucks an image through bells site

Someone on cellphonehacks.com is apparently able to bypass the gateway and can add ringtones and wallpaper, there's also rumors that the data cable for the LG600? works for the Virgin Mobile slider and that the file system is readily visible, this may mean with the cable we can add our own ringtones or wallpapers! I hope so!!

I have a cable for my old 2119b that I never used so I think I'll order the desktop software and see how far I get with that before getting a slider cable.

Yes it works, I just ordered the data cable and used that discount code. When you choose your shipping methid it shows a price, but when you check out it is a big $0 for shipping. Thanks for the coupon code.
