A great P900 accessory ... a 5 megapixel camera !!

Hi,

Well, I'm in Japan, and just got one of the new, Japan only, unbelievably thin, Sony Cybershot T1, a 5.1 megapixel camera (see this English description on E-Bay, because the Sony japan site only describes in Japanese) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&category=48543 . It is supposed to be released in the US in January. It's thinner than the Casio Exilim series. You can pocket it very easily.

This camera uses MS Duo. So I can now take a 5 megapixel picture (or video), put the Duo in my P900, view and e-mail the pictures from the phone !!!

This is so freaking convenient. And the camera is REALLY nice ... but that review is for another forum. Just a perfect companion to the P900, for a state of the art wireless photo/video studio.

Lucky you!!

How much did that end up costing you ? Is it readily available at Sony stores in Japan ?

Cheers,

D

Beautiful. It's a Sony.

You're going to email a 5MP image from your phone?!? You don't pay the connection bill, do you?

or he has a LOT of spare tiime to kill

Also just noticed this in the review:
Memory Stick PRO Duo (MSX-M256A, MSX-M512A): Ultra-small memory card with capacities up to 512MB with prices starting at about $125.

Does this camara work with non pro duo?

Posted by: jeffharris

Yes the camera works with regular duo,

no I don't have a lot of time to spare, but I don't have to do any work, the phone does the sending ,

Yes, I will send 5MP photos from my phone, as my business can benefit from it, and

yes I do pay for GPRS time, but only outside of US, as T-Mobile has unlimited GPRS.

The Sony camera ended up costing about $450 (Yen 59,800 less 20% discount). I think it will list for $599 in the US.

I have been seriously thinking of getting a Digital Camera and this might just be the one. Now just gotta explain the merits to my other half.

Been eyeing this camera for a long while on dpreview.com.... and Just found out it was available a few days ago! (much sooner than i had anticipated)
Needless to say, I am waiting for it to ship

this is exactly what I need!! but the price is a little deep. $599 canadian dollar would be a better deal

That's the updated link. Now its 579 USD. Still not bad and he's 100% positive feedback.

I may consider it myself.

Can't you just buy any Sony Digicam that's cheaper like the 5MP one for $400 at best buy and use the memory stick adapter? It's around the same size as that one, it just uses regular memory sticks instead of the duo

Read my post in there before committing yourself to any big financial decisions. You may want to try interchanging the MS Duo between both devices first.

If this is true, this solution may not work for jeffharris then.Having to format and reformat over and over again could become a pain

I did, and yes the file system is different. But, if you use the included P900 file manager, you can fid the Sony pictures folder and file(s), opt to move or e-mail the picture from the duo from the Sony camera. It works.

a great p900 accessory indeed! but quite expensive

I don't think I could invest in a 5mp digital camera with a lens aperature as small as that one...of course they are playing on the size factor but optics play a large role when it comes to cameras sporting that many pixels.

Posted by: jeffharris

That's why I still have my Nikon 5700 -- although, Nikon is due for an upgrade, too. It is just extremely convenient to have a pocket size 5 MP camera, that interfaces so smoothly with our P900s.

Jeff your posts are making me want to go visit Japan lol. I would probably want to buy everything though and right now I couldn't even afford to go over there, im only 18. Quit making everyone jealous! lol
