P900 Fragile touch screen...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Yes it happened! After two weeks of use, the screen is showing scratches from the stylus use, and they do get in the way, making jotting uneasy...

Yes, I do know screen protectors exist, but guys, I've had at least 10 Palms and Pocket PC's since 98 and never once did I need a screen protector and I am a heavy Jot/Transcriber user.

I've finally decided that the P900 is the first true two-in-one device (after trying many) and decided to ditch the two-unit setups I've had for years, and I am so pleased with it so far, BUT

Why oh Why couldn't SE use a better touch screen cover instead of this inferior product????

Any idea how I could fix these irritating scratches?

Thanks

Well... just a temporary solution, but... PUT A SCREEN PROTECTOR ON ASAP!!! We don't want more scratches now do we? Hopefully it will also "cover up" the original scratches and make the screen easier to use...!

I would recomend contacting you local SE store though as the screen shouldn't get scratched after just a couple of weeks use, but it can be hard to prove that you didn't scratch it using something else other than the stylus. So prepare for some heavy !

Good luck!

Really????
It was that easy to scratch the screen?
I was thinking about taking out the original screen protector...but now..hmm....I might as well keep it on till I get a screen protector

What original screen protector???

I didn't get any with my phone!

He means the peel off plastic cover it comes with like all new phones. Are you saying that the scratches are on this as I assume with your post?

It's not designed to be used with the stylus as you would find it drags with friction.

Best to leave it on though until you get a cover for keeping the screen unspoiled.

As a side note, I wish SE supplied several of the tips that screw in the stylus body as mine is starting to bend like it's gonna snap!

Yeah, there should be part of the sheet sticking out on the top of the screen. Makes it easy to peel off the original screen protector. If you didn't have that when you got your phone, it's been used already. If you do have the original protector on, leave it on even with the scratches until you buy a screen protector to replace it.

Exactly... or improve the design of the tip and get rid of that notch or whatever you call it (where the plastic is narrower than the rest).

Anybody know if anyone is selling spares already?

are you guys all using some sort of screen protector?
is the screen really that fragile?

Do you know any place in vancouver that i can buy a screen protector?

Posted by: W202 028

Not sure....
I guess I can get u one if u need it, i'm going back to Van on Saturday

Anyone else want some? I guess i can help everyone with it....

The screen protectors only came out this week....

Posted by: Jax826

how much is it^^?
and is it good to write on?
I mean../w that screen protector on, can hand-written recognition be possible?

Posted by: W202 028

Its abt $10CAD
The thing is I'd rather have a more difficult time scribbling then having my screen all scratched up... but overall, it doesn't really affect the recognition
