Is S55 class 1 or class 2 bluetooth?

I've been looking at bluetooth adapters and see that there is a Class 1 type that is good up to 100m and that there is a Class 2 type that is good up to 10m. Granted, I will only need the one that is good up to 10m at this time however the "better" one is only $5 more in cost.

Does anyone know if class 1 or 2 bluetooth will work on the S55?

I have a Class 1 Bluetooth USB dongle and works fine. But you won't get Class 1 ranges, because the S55 is a Class 2 device.

Thanks Klam,

Do you know if the Class 1 dongle actually uses more power than the Class 2 dongle (at the same range)?

I'm asking because I will be using the bluetooth dongle with an older notebook and battery consumption is definitely an issue with it.

If it is the same consumption, then I will definitely buy the Class 1 dongle though.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure. Bluetooth in general doesn't use that much power anyway.

I took the good advice and decided to buy the Class 1 bluetooth dongle.

Just for the record, however, at the lowest power usage it uses 4x the power of the Class 2 model (1mw vs .25mw).

Here is the link to the power consumption chart:

Thanks for your help
