GX20 compared to GD87

I got my GX20 yesterday, but i'm sorry to say that i am not that impressed... I have a GD87 wich I compare with and this is my conclusion, good and bad (keep in mind that this is based only on one days impressions):
Size, weight, appearance
The two phones are as identical as they can get but the GD87 feels less plastic and though its a bit heavier (?) it feels smaller and more robust. The GX20 design looks a bit more modern.
Winner: GD87
Displays
The GX20 inner display is much better in resolution, but the brightness is very similar. Since the GD87 display also is very good the "wow" factor wasn't really as big as i expected.
Winner: GX20
The outer GX20 display is bigger and in colour, but it tends to look a bit messy, and the resolution is not, in my opinion, suited for such small display.
Winner: GD87
Camera
Well, not much to say here. The GX20 camera with videofunction and light assist is by far better than GD87, but seriosly... how often do you use your phones camera to other than mms or showing off pictures using the phones display?
Winner: GX20
Sound
The soundquality during conversations is quite similar, but when it comes to the ringtone quality i only have one question... what the h*ll happened? The GX20 sounds like a 20 years old Spectrum or a really cheap keychain game. I am so utterly dissapointed with this so I am seriosly thinking of returning the GX20... almost... There is no depth at all, just pure high frequency "treble". The GD87 ringtone quality rocks, GX20 sux.
Winner: GD87
Games
GX20 has java and a better display, GD87 doesnt...
Winner: GX20
Functions
Again I'm surprised by the GX20. It has no sound reminder in the calendar, GD87 does. It's alarm doesn't sound if the phone is switched off (!), GD87 does. It has no pop3 email client, GD87 has. It can't send files via IR to other phones (only phone to PC in Vodafone SE version), GD87 can. So what functions does GX20 have that GD87 doesn't? Well, if you find out please let me know...
Winner: GD87
Conclusion
If GX20 would have been my first clamshell cameraphone this "review" would propably have been all rant and rave about GX20, but this is not how it is. I think it's a real shame that the GX20 wich is supposed to be state of the art doesn't differ more, or by far succed an over one year older phone, the GD87. Maybe the GD87 was exeptional when it came, but it will still be king of the hill, since I think that it isn't enough just to throw in a better camera and display, and cut down on functionallity to overtake the throne.
Finnaly i want to emphasize that this is only my personal, one day old opinion. Hopefully I will be proven wrong on some points, but for now I think i will use a better phone with a not quite as good display and camera, my precious GD87
PS. I'm from Sweden so my grammar and spelling may not be the best..
DS.
PEACE!

Ok! i have the luxury to live in a city with exceptional GSM reception, even in the subway an highway tunnels, so i can't really tell the difference

lol i have both of these phones and i can say GX20 is REALLY REALLY better than the GD87... no difference... you just unhappy because you loved your gd87 (i was in the same situation) ... You will love your GX20 i'm sure of it, i have it since 1 month and i think this is the best phone on the french market...
You have it since one day, that's really not enough to make a review/comparaison about it...

When I first got my GX22, other then the screen and camera, i wasn't 2 pleased with it 2.
But you'll grow to like it more......
Now, I wouldn't trade it for GD87 if I have a choice.

i just love the screen quality myself, compared to other phones on the market its a clear winner, some phones have reasonably good picture quality when the images are downloaded but none seem to have the sharp's screen, they all seem so fuzzy, most "new" phones screens are comparable to the GX10 not the GX20!
but yeah it could be better with more features, these sorts of things can be built into java apps and downloaded though so its no big deal and for me the major thing is the phone itself, good reception and sound.

Well, i hope you guys are right about me growing to like it moore. My point wasn't that the GX20 is a bad phone, not at all. I'm just a perfectionist
Btw, can someone tell me how to acces webpages without having to go via Live > options (Vodafone locked)?
Meercat, thnx for the wallpapers

hey, no problems, i like to change my backdrop occasionally depending on my mood.
dont know what you mean about browsing though, if you press the "live" button on the phone it always takes you direct to the live.vodafone.co.uk site, even changing my homepage in the WAP settings doesnt work, i still have to go to "options > home" to get it to work, and the phone caches like buggery which is a pain for testing

I used to be a panasonic Gx8x owner long ago and in my own personal opinion I feel the Sharp GX2x railroads the Panasonic in every category.

I wouldn't say EVERY category, but certainly in MOST categories.
