A P900 video of the next generation SE !

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well, OK, sorry, it's a little misleading

It's actually a video from my P900 of my new phone in Tokyo here, the Sony Ericsson 505i, with 1.3 megapixel camera. I still prefer the P900, it does so much more. My P900 is useless here, but I still carry it around all day, and use it as a full PDA, with database, and all its functional glory.

Quite cool I must say. I'll agree that I like the P900 more but that's because I'm not a flip phone kind of guy. It does look pretty nice though. Is it expensive?

Seems like you're having a good time in Japan...new camera, looking at cool phones....hope you're not working too hard!

Have fun!

it's quite nice
too bad it doesnt work here tho

there r rumours that they r releasing a GSM version to it tho

Very nice Jeff... thanx for that vid!

As cool as the 505 is, it looks to be rather large... thick when closed and long when open. In that sense it’s kind of going backwards to what we just did in regards to our P800 > P900 upgrade.

Any chance you have a comparison pic of the P900 and the 505 together?

what do you use to view the clip? quicktime?

Posted by: Bengalboy

Can't get it to download yet,,,,but thanks for thinking of us Jeff,,,enjoy Asia..

That's one smart looking phone, like the motorola Vsomething in the rotating keypad and a lens cover for that 1.3mp camera.

Why does Japan & far east get the coolest tech.

Very nice!

I'm not a big fan of flip phones, but I could get used to a P900-ish flip phone like that one.

Definitely a brilliant design.

Cool phone, looks a little big though. But that may just be me

i love that phone, but never realized it was so big

btw, it can also open like a regular clamshell; the "s" model even has autofocus

MIne does not open like a regular clamshell. The way I opened it on the video is the only way, albeit you can swing it in either direction. The face always stays up. It is a cool phone, but, it really doesn't do much fun stuff. I may change it -- there is another cool Sony Ericsson phone here, with swivel camera -- I'll take a video of that from the store here in Monday. Taking a weekend getaway with my wife in Kyoto this weekend. Just arrived here. I'm using Japanese high speed wireless internet card now - interesting place, cool toys !!

Hey Nate,

GSM in it's native form does not exist in Japan. They use, among others, a 3G WCDMA system. However, you now CAN roam with your T-Mobile chip from USA in Japans' Vodafone WCDMA network, as of Nov 15th, by using a Nokia 6650, or a couple of other phones that Sanyo or Samsung are coming out with, which are multimode GSM/WCDMA phones. You can slip your chip in, and use it in Japan, on the J-Phone/Vodafone service here. However, even if you have the old grandfathered Omnipoint International roaming rates, the rate for roaming in Japan is still $1.99 a minute, in and out, and back to the US. This is a crazy amount. You can buy a prepaid phone here, and, before you leave a GSM country the next time for Japan, you can forward your GSM into your Japan phone, which then costs you only 29c a minute from T-Mo to receive a call in Japan, and free incoming on your Japan phone.

GSM does work in China.

OK, here is aother interesting video from my p900 here in Tokyo, at one of the 3 or 4 big electronic chain stores here ( www.yodobashi.com ). It shows another new Sony Ericsson phone, for the KDDI AU network, with 1.3 MP camera and video, in a clamshell style, and I think, a 262,000 color screen! Also, thecase is somewhat feminine, but this is just the display unit -- the covers are changeable. You also can see the multitude of phones, and demo units available, just in one store. It is a phone lovers paradise in Japan !!! Everone has a camera phone, color screen, and everyone SMSs and MMSs pictures, all the time ... Maybe you guys have seen, what 2 people doing it ever in the US??

The video is 1MB, you may have better luck just right clicking, and saving to your computer

That is a NICE phone! Bi-lingual, too!

I wish we could get phones like that here. How much is that thing? Does it work with GSM?

And does it have Bluetooth?

Looks like everything else is fantastic!

Btw, Jeff, I'm just curious... because you seem to travel quite a bit, what exactly do you do for a living?
