P900 firmware on a P800

Hmm....i was just thinking, would this be possible? i mean hardware wise they are both the same, a jog dial, the same functions, etc....i wonder if this is possible.

The only thing i can think of that wont work is the p800 flip, because the p900 flip does not press the screen to dial...it is actually hard wired....

other than that..it all looks the same... i wonder if anyone has tried this...

what do you guys think?

hmm,

They look "kinda" like the same, and they have "roughly" the same features (after all, they both have jogdials) - so it shouldn't matter that the entire electonics and processing section was completely changed - the firmware must be replaceable.

NOT!

hahahahhahah

ok ok..i get the point...but it was just a passing thought.....u dint have to flame me for it.......lol

either way
the firmware for the P900 is larger than the max amount of space available for fw on the P800

I remember wondering about something similar, fitting the 9210i's firmware into a 9210 (for the Opera browser, etc.). The flashing utilities won't allow it, even if the bits might fit into the ROM/RAM.

I suspect it's the same with the P800/P900.

I wasnt aware of the memory factor, but i have seen SE T300s with T310 Software. I'm sure hardware wise, they are similar that is why this is possible.

I guess the P900 is mostly different hardware wise.

from what I read on my-symbian
the ROM size r very different!
