Hi all,

decided it is time to upgrade my good old Nokia. I've had several and got used to their menus etc.

Now trying to decide, do I go for the Motorola v300 or the Samsung e700.

I've heard that the v300 has a quirky menu system (compared to Nokia) (If it ever gets released that is, since it seems to be delayed all the time), but that the Sammy has problems with the battery life.

I'm not really an anorak when it comes to phones, just want a good quaility, easy to use relaible phone with a good battery life.

Oh, and te only reason I'm thinking of a camera phone is that since their free on contract. might as well get one!

Any comments welcome!!!

Cheers all
Woody

I have a US T-Mobile V300 and have only played with a Samsung E715 which is close, but not exactly the same as the E700.

I'd have to say the V300 is a pretty good phone. The speakerphone is very handy and while I haven't setup voice dialing yet, it's definitely gonna be useful to me. Voice quality is very good and battery life is pretty good. I've only had it for 4 days but it looks like it'll get 3 days usage with my usage cycle. I haven't had any real issues with the menu system and compared to the Nokia 7210, 8290, 3650, it's no harder to use.

That said, the camera quality supposedly isn't as good as the E715. But the V300 can turn off the "click" sound when you take a picture. The E715 has an annoyingly loud shutter sound that you can't turn off. The 3650 is also better than the V300.

I've never heard that Samsungs are particularly good with battery life but I haven't heard anything bad about this particular model yet.

You may wanna wait a while for the V300 yet, there've been reports of bad firmware with the early models. I've seen a few T-Mobile UK people complaining about their V300 crashing or resetting on them.
