P800 user needs help!!

Hi

I' ve read few posts regarding various P800 problems so I thought maybe you guys could help me out with something...

1) My computer won't detect my P800 in modem mode! I' ve read SSODR's instruction (and I have done absolutely EVERYTHING what he said!) but when I try to add new modem in control panel computer scans com3 (phone is connected to com3), it detects that there is sync station but it skips it and finds serial modem on com2. OS is win98se and I have managed to copy and move files between pc and phone (havn't tried backup though). I know that this problem has more to do with stupid windows but... I would really appreciate if someone could help...

2) P800 should have 12mb of internal memory, right? Well, I have used about 3mb but the phone displays that there is only about 7.5mb free! Stupid leftover crap ate aproximately 2mb! I am curious... If I do backup now, format disk, do master reset and recover data from the backup will I have more free space? What should I do to clean those leftovers but without loosing any information?

3) When I try to format disk the only available option is to format drive D. Since I bought used phone I don' t know what the drive D is. Is it internal memory or memory stick? Of course, I can always format it and find out

but I was wondering is there any other way to find it out. Can anyone help?

1) Did you follow step one of the instructions? It has you switch the phone settings to modem mode rather than PC connect. It is in step 1.

2)To format your phone press "right * left left * left *" where right and left are accomplished on the jogdial. the * is on your keypad.

Scroll down the menu that comes up. You will see an option to format your disk.

As I wrote before, I followed SSODR's instructions step by step. When things didn' t work for the first time I tried to set up a connection from the beginning. I tell you, cable status is set to modem, manual is ok but Windows is giving me a hard time...

Trick with the jog dial worked perfectly! Now, I have option to format internal disc. THANKS!!!!

What is the main difference between formating drive c and master reset? In both cases all information are lost. If I understood correctly when you do master reset all settings will be set to the state they were after you selected language (almost brand new phone, with no apps. and user settings) and when you format drive c you get... what? Manual says ""When you formate a disk you delete all the information on it including any applications that you may have installed." I know that my english is not great but I really can't see any difference between those two things. Do you loose gprs, mms, sms and other settings when you format c drive? I' m confused

Ok, you must see that speed in com port and modem speed in windows be same , i use 115200, of course in p800 must be 115200, i use following configuration

bps 115200
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
Flow control None
