Isn't the efault size for the VX6000 160x120... I think it would look better that way.

You need a cable, bitpim or GAGIN, and the little orange search button. This has been posted numerous times before.

yeah default is 120 x 160. however only 120 x 131 is viewable. so when you send a 120 x 160 image to your phone, it crops it and has an annoying white space on the top and bottom of the image. Here is a sample.



the image is 120 x 160 but the part labled "not visible" does not show up. the picture of heidi is 120 x 131 and looks great on my phone.

the image is a 24-bit .bmp and was loaded to my phone with bitpim. if you were sending it through pis messaging, you would want to delete the botom 29 pixles ("not visible").

did we decide if it was ok for me to post my more hard core xxx wallpapers here? Also, one more question. Pics display correctly at 120x131 in "BMP" and not jpg on our vx6000 phones. If this is true, why are 99% of the pics you guys are posting in jpg format? I dont mind converting them but the newbies are not going to be doing that and will suffer with the white lines.

well that is because on like 99.9% of servers only alow you to put jpgs on them and i haven't found one that i cam put bmp on. i thought i did but it was a negative

thanks for clearing that up flexia. i thought i was missing something.. or.. that my phone was now different because i just today had the verizon store "flash" my vx6000 to the brand new version 6 operating system. It DOES handle pics differently now. The only major change in this flash is that the web is now way faster and is using packet data transfer system that the GIN currently is utilizing.

the trick is really to use something like photoshop 7 and resize them down to a usable size loosing as little photo quality as possible.. then creating a 120 x131 empty shell bmp pic. then pasting the image into the shell and moving it around in the shell till it looks centered in an area that wont have the verizon banner or the date/clock info on the more important parts of the pic.

thanks, that's exactly what I had in mind I just haven't tried it yet to see what kind of results I would get. I do have photoshop 7 but never use it.

Photoshop 7 is great but it takes a an Einstein to really use it. Iv used Photoshop for about 10-15 years and i still only utilize about 1/2 of what it can do. the ACDSsee versions out there are more user friendly and do just about all the things normal people would need. Photo 7 is overkill for most stuff. I did a job for one company that wanted ten thousand photos edited by trimming off one inch from each side and 3 millimeters from the top and all of them brightened up a few lumens and rotated the other direction and a couple other things. Photoshop did all of them for me on its own after I showed it how to do one of them. It ran for days unattended. Yes, it is possible to make several thousand bux for 15 minz of actual work with the correct tools.

yea I've opened it a couple of times, stared at it for a minute and closed it! I have ACDsee also and use it quite a bit. I also started using Photoimpact recently. It's pretty good too.

Greetings all. I got my vx6000 in October and just found this place... Thanks to the great tutorials I've spent the past few days doing nothing but playing with bitpim and making wallpapers. I love this phone!

Anyway, I made a few Rush wallpapers and this was the first. I'll post a zip (BMPs) if anyone's interested... includes a starman logo, P/G egg in clamp, Rush in Rio covers, Test for Echo (attached here) and some non-Rush related.

ok I didn't realize that! I just did a quick test and 120x160 and 120x131 both display the same on my phone. Oh well I'll fix all the pix on the website......

awesome job!... one more fix.. edit the html of your site. The images are stretched because the code still thinks there 160's. just search and replace the number 160 to 131 and it will auto fix it.

I am able to resize all my pictures to 120x131 and save as .bmp @ 16-bit but all of the pictures are like 30k any ideas how to make them half that size?

Currently I'm creating wallpapers of all 32 NFL teams. I have all the images but just need to resize. If you can hold off for a day I should have them on my website. Also when I'm done with the current helmets I'm going to start on the throw back helmets as well.

Here are some wallpapers I made. They are jpg format to be able to post here, so to use them rename to bmp.

It looks like I can only post 1 at a time though. I tried to post multiple pix using the vB Code area, but it looks like the pictures have to be posted on an http site, not my computer. Any ideas how to post so the pictures show up? What am I doing wrong?

yup.. she is cut off at the belly-buttn. unless you dont mind white bars on the left and right then you can have the entire pic. let me know. i made you the pic both ways and yes.. i removed the logo and didnt need to cut the photo, just edited it.

It uses airtime, so if you're concered I'd do it after 9pm. You're not being charged for the pix/ringtones since you have the plan.

yep your charged 1 minute per upload. The $7.99 is for unlimited pics. If you didn't pay the $7.99 they would charge you 25 cents per pic. There's two plans:

1.) 1 minute per pic/text message plus $7.99 a month
2.) 1 minute per pic/text message plus $0.25 cents per pic/text message.

You have plan 1.

Plan one is only good if you send more than 32 pics/text messages a month. 32 x $0.25 cents=$8

If you sent 34 pics/text messages they would charge you 34 minutes of airtime plus $8.50

I hope I didn't confuse you more!

can you elaborate? i dont have either pic/text message plan...just the 250 text messages a month...i've been sending myself pics and midis....does it charge per pic if you dont have the plan, or does it only take off minutes?

If you don't have a plan, you will be charged by the message. It does not charge by the picture/midi, only by the minutes it takes to send or recieve. So lets say you can fit 3 pictures into one message--you'll pay the $.25 flat rate for the message, PLUS deduction from how ever many minutes it takes to recieve. Does this make a little more sense?

I don't think theres any trogdor wallpapers already made, but you can go watch one of the flash ani's with trogdor in it and snap a screen shot while hes on the screen and crop it down to fit the phone... if you can't do it, lemme know and I'll do it... I'd kinda like a trogdor wallpaper anyway.
