New Comer: Please help me with my foo-fooing GD88

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My newly bought GD88( or GD87) works fine with the IrDA
But when it comes to serial port or USB--->serial port, there is a problem.

I have tried assigning the USB to com port 1 to 4, but the original Passonic software still can't recognise my handset.
Also, in winmodo, after I click download, it keep showing signalling..........

Both CB2000, winmodo and crack2d can't recognise my handset, even though I have covered Pin 4 and 10

Can any experts help me?

many thanks

Only need pins 4 & 10 covered for CB2000.

Not WinMoDo or Crack2d etc...

long shot, but i had a similar problem at first. Double check your covered pins and try keeping the USB on com 1. I checked my covered pins and one was covered on the wrong pin. Changed it and it works perfectly!

reinstall drivers might help? or you might just be unlucky and have a defective cable.

I did a quick serach here on the forum, becasue I am sure I read about some other guy having problems becasue of the mat usb serial bridge drivers.....

I found this:

"p.s. My best guess was that it's a driver problem. If that's the case, can anyone refer me to some reference USB to Serial drivers?"

http://matweb-01.com/English/dls-fds.htm

May be you can get the driver at the link for your USB cable. AS well you can get the Data suite software to upload pic and tone for your GU87 too.

Worth a try...

Sorry to tell you that I've just tried it shortly before I read this post.
Still can't get my handset detected.
Can any body help me using vnc?

Does windows detect the USB device for starters?

Does it show the device as "MATS-USB etc..."?

Have you tried Handset manager software?

When you start up Edit tool software, does it say "Check that the device is connected...etc"?

If it say to check device is connected, have you tried hitting "File List"? This is a bug with alot of data cables, and it will sync up after hitting "File List".

You have to cover pins 4 and 10 for crack2d as well.

When using WinModo, after you click download, did you press Power button on phone?

Try reading some How to's on this site. Maybe you forgot something? INFO

In Edit tool, does it say "Connected to phone" at the bottom of the screen?

When starting CB2000, do you have the phone turned off at startup? If so, what is the error message that it gives in CB2000?

How did you go about changing the COM port setting? Did you just select Com 1-4 in the applications? Or did you manually change the COM port in device manager?

Sorry for the twenty questions routine. Just trying to get as much info as I can.
