VX6000 (Verizon) vs. E715 (T-Mobile)

Hey, I'm new to the forum .

I used to have AT&T GSM + Nokia but am currently looking for new service.

I have the VX6000 right now with Verizon service @ $54.99/month with 700 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends and unlimited long distance. It's working really well for me right now, but while I'm still in the introductory 15 day period I want to look at all my other options.

This question is really for those who have had one, then switched to the other, or have both.

How good is T-Mobile in the Southern California area? Compared to Verizon? Which phone is better overall (features, picture quality etc)?

Any relevant information is highly appreciated. I did do a search, but just wanted to make sure there isn't any fresh information out there .

Thanks.

You might want to try directly in the T-Mobile forum. (The Verizon forum people will generally just say, "Verizon is the best, stay with them" but without backing it up. Or they'll say "Stay with Verizon unless you don't care about making phone calls inside" even though when I was in San Diego last time, my family in the area said to stay clear of Verizon in the area.)

T-Mobile is good outside, inside, i get max bars upstairs, but downstairs, its ok. The E715 is better than the LG, unless you have hands the size of shaq. Mind you I am 6'4. THe E715 is better because the colors on the screen are brighter than the LG. Plus i have a 39.99 plan 1000 anytime, ulim nights and weekends and free long distance. I resigned with Tmobile on NOvember 14th

The E715 is the worst phone I've ever owned. The battery life is atrocious, as is the reception. Don't buy one.

Having been from San Diego, I can say that T-Mobile is horrible and is the second worst, next to Cingular. The coverage is spotty at best.

Don't know anything about the E715 though.

I am also on the Get More 39.99 plan. (I live in NYC). I get 600 ANYTIME minutes, free nights/weekends and long distance/no roaming.
But from what I understand, to get 1000 anytime minutes, you lose the free nights plan.
Can you further explain?

Here's a few answers.

1. Cali has a special promo plan - 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nites + weekends - It was a special thing for the launch of service throughout the state. Everywhere else can get the 1000 anytime minutes and unlimited + weekends for $59.99.

2. In california.. T-Mobile = Cingular. For the most part, T-Mobile uses Cingular towers.

Thanks for the reply!

Wow, is that plan still in effect?
I have a relative out there in LA who most likely would sign up with those terms.
Does it include free long distance & roaming?

BTW, in New York City, Cingular uses T-Mobile's towers. They have a reciprocal relationship on the opposite coasts. (Both use the GSM spectrum).
In general, Cingular is not well liked in NYC. That is why they are heavily advertising and pushing their "rollover plan". It still ain't catching on.
