SL56 Message Alert Tone Question

Has anyone notice that since the tone fades in (when you get a message) that you don't end up hearing much of the tone at all? Is there a way to fix this, no fade ins, etc. Or is there something else I can try?

This usually happens when you have the volume at max. Try turning down the volume and editing your MIDI File to be louder...either that, or make your MIDI File a little longer...

I can never hear mine either. What I would like is a single beep tone that I can set at max.
Does anyone have one that I can have?
