Originally posted by nox1524 I used to work at Panasonic Canada in their CCC.(two years. Left august 2003) Trust me...they want warranty proof for anything. If you had tried to make mods on you phone I dont think they will do anything for you. Making changes to any of their products voids their warranty. If its under warranty you can still try sending it to them, but just dont tell them what you did or tried. Just say that i tried to turn it on one day and didnt turn on, and didnt wanna charge. As for them determining if someone had tried to change the firmware, im not too sure. Good luck. |

Originally posted by nox1524 ur right Turbo...they would have to determine if any mods were done. Panasonic is pretty anal about their warranties. to get warranty service you'll need the proof of purchase. In nicke's case he purchased it off ebay. panasonic will not honour warranty if it was not purchased at an authorized panasonic dealer. it doesnt hurt to try, you can say that you got it as a present and obviously you wouldnt have the reciept. the worst thing they can do is say is that they cannot do anything for you. |

Originally posted by turbo_slug if you passed the boot, then the phone should be reflashable but the battery has to be charged when the phone fails to flash, the charging feature will no longer work. the led will turn on but it will not charge the battery. you need to put the battery in another gd88 to charge before reflashing it. |
so, i think there isn't any software left on my phone .. i guess i'll start using it as a paper weight, right ?|
Originally posted by nox1524 if you dont have proof of purchase from an authorized dealer, you wont be able to get any warranty work on it. The best thing for you (twill and nicke) is to post a message here on hofo to see if you might be able to find someone that can do it for you locally or someone that is willing to try to fix it overseas if need be. i wouldnt give up on it yet as these units are very good. i love my phone and would hate to just give it up if someone could fix it yknow? just some advice. it would kill me to use my gd88 as a paper weight. |

Originally posted by barqy can anyone explain why so many flashes are going wrong w/ the gu87/gd88?? Is it a software/PC problem?? Or the actual firmware itself? Does anyone have instructions typed up or linked they can provide?? I recently paid for a gu87 (not sure if I will even get it) and plan on flashing/unlocking it myself But now im worried thanks |

Originally posted by mavericke I think one would have to be very careful in flashing. I would suggest using usb cable only and the latest winmodo and cb2000. |

Originally posted by turbo_slug maybe it's because people keep using those buggy USB cables... i've flashed my own gd88's at least 20 times with no problems... |

Originally posted by barqy Good point... Yeah the flashing should work without a hitch if the battery is all charged. Same s/w has been used by many and everyone experiences different results heh. I just ordered a gu87/gd88 flash/unlock serial cable off eBay. Hope I actually get my gu87 soon Does anyone have a walkthru or guide to flashing/unlocking gu87??

Originally posted by Takumi_Inui I heard someone on the forums say that if take out the battery, then open the flash and putting the battery back in at the same time it'll work. Not sure though, when I had the GD88, I remember I had a dead flash. I never turned off the phone though, I still managed to save it with a new flash. Whenever you guys encounter an error in flashing, NEVER TURN OFF THE PHONE. Otherwise it will become a paperweight and won't turn on. And also, make sure the battery is charged at full before flashing it. |
