Does anyone know if they gu87 can be used in Canada? (more specifically on the Rogers network)?

it is a tri-band world phone, 1800-900-1900, do you understand?

I understand that it is a world phone but I guess my confusion is from what I have read the gu87 is the same as the gd88 but they were manufactured in different regions of the world and that is why I am worried that I would not be able to use it in Canada. Does this mean that if I unlock the phone I can use it on my Rogers network?
