SL56 - Battery Life

Hi all,

First of all, let me say that I am very happy to have found this forum. Last week I purchased 2 phones (SE T616 and Siemens SL56) and I have been reading this forum to help myself to learn.
I have been hearing good and bad things about both phones. Of course, you are never going to have a 100% good rating, however, one common problem that I have read about is that the SL56 has really poor battery life. Is this something that happens with every SL56? Could these have been a couple of isolated incidents?
I am wondering if this is in fact a problem and if so, is there a battery that I could buy to correct this problem?
I have been reading and have not found this answer in the forums, so if it is, I apologize in advanced for skipping over it.

Thanks all....

it has poor battery life due to the size of the battery and the phone...

the battery of the sl56/55 is only 500 mah....or u can buy an aftermarket one(700 mah)..but i wont be risking that for a $400-$500 phone....

Thanks for your help. This is my wife's phone, and she doesn't have it on at all times, so I guess I'll just buy her a car charger, just in case....
Thanks....

if she talks on it alot i suggest u getting a back-up battery...

Hey, I got the exact same 2 phones last week! The SL56 seems to have about 1/2 the battery life as the T616, but then it is also about half the size.

I got my SL56 on Saturday, fully charged it and was using it late that afternoon. Now on Monday afternoon, the battery is down to around 25%-30%. However, the phone takes only 2 hours to fully charge. I'm willing to sacrafice poor battery life when the phone can be charged that quickly.

Wow, looks like your battery lasts longer than mine. The battery life is terrible, but I'm willing to sacrifice that only 'cause it recharges quickly and the size is perfect. Not to mention I love the speakerphone. I use that most of the time.

Yeah, just to ammend to my post: The battery died Late Monday night/Early Tuesday morning. So by my math I think the battery lasted roughly 60hrs.

//Edit: Just to add, this was with 33:59 of talk time.

my SL56 has poor battery life too...
can those chargers/batteries on ebay be trusted?

I dont necessarily think that the SL battery is poor, its just that most of you guyz that complain are coming from phones that have a bigger battery, so you just notice that the battery dies faster in comparison to ur old phone.

When in fact, the battery for this phone is pretty decent for its size.

couldnt have agree with u more...

battery life for me got better after i used the phone for about 2 weeks (~after 5 charges). but it charges so fast, i agree it's not a problem.

i wouldn't trust the batteries on ebay, i ordered 1 and it didn't fit properly on the phone (you'd have to force it on the phone and the sides weren't flush witht ehphone). the seller sent me anotehr one, fit a little better but still didnt fit RIGHT, so i returned both to the seller and got my money refunded.

I am tempted, tho, to get another battery, as mine is dead right now, and I swore that I charged it last night....went dead half-way through the day.... anyways....

If the only issue of the batteries on Ebay is that they don't fit, has anyone tried to take the actual battery out of the case, and put it in the OEM casing? This brings one to wonder if it would be a good idea or not to try a larger MA battery...would that be safe for my $250 dollar phone?

Geez you can get those batteries cheap! I mean like 5 bucks... well, any opinions would be appreciated...

or ebay an oem battery

they're still only 30 bucks and are DEFINITELY worth it for peace of mind and longevity
