Has anyone been able to get the 3.25 hours talk time or 10 days standby time as listed in the specs? I have 3 of them and have to charge about every 2 days, with very little usage. I love the phone, but it goes thorugh batteries faster than any phone I have ever had.

the extended battery is out now for the great cost of about $100 shipped, and offers 5 hours of talktime and like 20 days of standby or 10 days somthing like that. just wait a little bit they will probably be on ebay for about 10-30 dollars.

well i heard at the other forum that if readylink is enabled you will have a much shorter battery time so that could be it.

Dude, do you have a link to that thread or tell me where I can find it, I would like to read it.

here you go

its not much...but just like i said, i heard so maybe there is better info else where

Thanks dude, I am going to disable R/L on all three 5500's and see what happens, since I don't use it anyway.

I got at least 3.25 hours of calls on mine today (holding for Sprint CS - all I can do so far is *2 - no regular phone service yet...). One call was 2:15, the other was at least an hour. The battery meter was still showing 2 out of three "bars". Haven't tried running it out - just recharged it when I was done with the CS mess.

Don't know about the 10 days of standby time - I've been plugging it in each night at the same time I charge my Palm.

After I turned off R/L on all 3 5500's, I do see a big difference in battery life.

i have short battery life with the RL disabled -- last weekend i got the extended battery, the car charger and the headset for a total of $59.99 plus tax at the Sprint store on La Cienega in Los Angeles

Keep in mind that if you are in an area that is traditionally a bad coverage area (even though our Sanyos will succeed where other phones fail) the phone is working at a higher power output so your battery will discharge at a dramatic rate. Depending on conditions, a fully charged battery may drain in as little as 15-20 hours or less even with no use.

and that is why i have had sanyo ever since i tried the 4700. and i will be with sanyo until till they screw me over!

My Sanyo 5400 battery life is horrible, in very fringe reception areas, even with r/l disabled--there appears to be enough battery drain (in stand by) that the battery become slightly warm vs very warm with(connected) use in a good reception area.

Then this while annoying, would be considered normal, right ??
