X70 Problems

Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problems as me with their x70 phone

1. Camera doesnt always work, nor can you go into any of the camera settings (Orange say that this is now a known issue, and they are awaiting a new firmware update to rectify this)

2. Infrared - it worked the first few times, but now my laptop can see the phone, the handset manager sees the phone, then tries to download the address book, then fails and tries to reconnect to the phone, and basically sticks in this loop

3. MMS, I have sent and recieved 3 MMS messages when I first got the phone (10 days ago) but now when I try to send I get an internal error after it has tried to send the data, I no longer recieve MMS messages despite them being sent from other phones and being sent succesfully

ANy help would be appreciated, especially on the Infrared bit

OS is XP, and nothing has changed on either the phone or Laptop, as I have been in the states all of last week

Cheers

Steve

i've had the camera not working problem about twice since i got the phone (about 3 weeks ago). turning the phone off and on again seemed to restore the camera's operation. if it'dd happened more often i'dd have queried this with orange.

i've not had MMS stop working, but i've hardly used it. i'll keep an eye on it though.

I don't have any problem with the camera, what's your firmware version. Mine is A19 dated Oct 17, 2003

I do have the infrared problem too. Try to disconnect the phone before closing the Handset manager application.

Yep Orange told me the resolution to the camera problem is to turn the phone off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on, they also told me it usually happens after the phone has been charged up

MMS is now working again, but no reason as to why it stopped, other than an engineer got me to fill in the user name & password settings for MMS, as he said this is a new known issue on x70 phones

HOw do I check my Firmware version ?

I usually do disconnet the phone, but the problem is that it wont re-connect at all, other than for a few seconds at a tiime, then it disconnects itself on the handset manager

Orange gave me a direct number for Pansonic, as they said it is beyond their capabilities to troubleshoot Infrared

To get the version number turn the phone off. Turn it on and after any animation and it says "Searching for Network" type in *#9999# and it'll tell you the version number.

i can't take the credit for this as i found the answer to your IR problem on these very boards. So thanks go out to crazzy for this solution, however bizarre it is!.

it seems that when the handset memory gets too cluttered it interferes with IR operation... my X70 was behaving in exactly the same way with IR comms until... i deleted a few pictures, and a few unused ringtones, and just generally freed up some memory space, and now it works like a dream.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the info

I havent bothered again with infrared as I bought a cable and Handset Manager, and this works better & faster

Bluetooth is really quick too, but you can only do one file at a time from the PC to the phone, but still not really a problem

My firmware is A20-20

cable AND bluetooth! ...you're not taking any chances are you?

how much does that stuff cost at the moment and can you recommend a cheap supplier?

My firmware seems to be the oldest so far. Mines got firmware version A17-17 which is dated 10/10/03.

Waiting for newer version to appear on the web with WinMoDo to help update it.
