i just got the slider in the mail but im still debating whether or not to return it.
i know it has great features and such.. but what is everyone's overall opinion?? good reception?? easy to use?? fun features??

anything would be great.

Its a great phone, I live in Los angeles and reception is great. We drove home to San Jose over Thanksgiving break (along the 5) and never lost reception once. With the free wap, I was able to email, chat with my friends over aim, surf the web, and play games for the whole 5 hours. It's seriously one of the best phones out there right now. I've yet to see another person with a slider besides my little sister(cause I bought her one). The buttons take a little time to get use to, and the screens awfully hard to see when in direct sunlight. But overall its a solid phone.

I've been around here for some time now....and I've owned numerous cell phones, mostly with Bell...the Slider is hands down one of the better phones I've had the chance to use....It really takes the cake with the reception - it's almost unreal how well it works in some areas (like in basements) and even with no signal bars!

I love the phone. There are only a few things that bug me about it. One is that the alarm does not work when the phone is off, the other is the lack of use of the speaker on the speaker phone. If you record a voice memo, you can play it back on the speaker and its rather loud. It would have been wonderful if you could use your voice memos as ringtones, kinda like the vox. The only other problem is the tendancy to hit the soft keys when navigating. It seems you should be able to use them but you can't, you have to use the arrows and then hit OK

ok i know this is alittle off subject but is there a wap site for aol if so can soemone post it for me thanks

can you accually chat on AIM? it seems to me that on the AIM website (AIMdotCOM) and virgin isn't an option..... please tell me how...

==========
good times

Posted by: MiniTank

not too sure about virgin...but on bell...when you go to web browser...it brings you to a menu wiht many options..one includes "email and IM" and then the next menu you chose AOL or something then AOL instant message and then sign on...idono if the main browser is different between verizon and bell

Ive had the slider for about a week now and im pretty happy with it...reception has been pretty decent (ive only had a couple dropped calls) and people have told me that the outgoing sound quality is good (far better than my n307)...

It fits really well into a pocket and i havent found a case or holster to be necessary...

the most annoying thing about the slider is the size and layout of some of the keys (but im sure this is a problem with most smaller phones)...

The "back" key is too small and poorly placed and is a pain to use...as well the directional keypad is too close to the End key (and i end up hitting that key alot more than i would like!)

overall though im pretty happy with it

oh.... i'll figure all this out tomorrow... I'm sure I can use the free WAP thing and find AIM, I know someone who has already...

Yahoo has a link to it on their wap site just go to the directory

Posted by: VMvirginmobile

yay! I got my slider, and I called and had it activated and I have my old Virgin number, but i'm hot getting WAP access..I can get to VirginXtras, but when I do the 'trick' (wap url contact list thing) it just says "500: Web service problem: please contact the service provider." could this be a firmware update on my more recent phone that was uploaded to promped this? There goes one of the main reasons for getting this phone

Mobile aim site is http://wim.aol.com

VM have you tried other sites? I sometimes have the same problem with certain sites. I use http://twilightwap.com, seems to be the most dependable and has all sorts of links.

Posted by: VMvirginmobile

wait...dp I have to change the 'UP link a/b"? i've just been putting the url in the contacts .... thanks

Posted by: VMvirginmobile

nope... I tried the waptunnel IP, and it didn't work..... I can access virginXtras, but not my own wap pages.... ):

just want to ask everyone who has the phone, how offend do you need to pull out the antenna. the reason i ask is i broken mine, and it is the first day i have to phone. if the reception is not too bad without extending the entenna, then i wont bother replacing it, if it is that important, then i will have to fork out $30 to get a new one.

i never have need to pull out the antenna - i broke the antenna on my old phone (v120) so i never pull this one out, just so i won't break it.
how did yours break?

Posted by: cannibal_corpse

i broke my antenna too i broke the antena from my old motorola c331t but it was working good anyway on the slipder i only pull out the antenna when i am getting online

My sister just got it, and all I have to say is it's a KILLER phone!! The only thing I can complain about (if pushed) is the screen isn't quite as good as I thought it would be (I thought it was a 65k color screen, the screen looks very similar to my old Moto T720 which has a 4096 color display also it doesn't display black very well) but other than that it's cool.

I think I will wait for the Kyocera SE-44. At least it has AMPS and will have most of the bugs worked out by then.
