***fyi: There Is No Silver Sanyo 5500 Being Manufactured For Sprint!***

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

This week I placed an order for a silver Sanyo 5500 from Sprint and a few days later i recieved a blue one in the mail.

Confused, I contacted Sprint, and was fortunate enough to speak with a enthusiastic specialist that contacted 3 supervisors in 3 different departments about the existence of a silver Sanyo 5500.

He put me on hold but after a few minutes he said that he would call me back because he was talking to so many different people and didn't want me to be on hold the whole time.

30 minutes later he called back with this news: Although there is a silver Sanyo 5500 shown on the phone's manual and on some websites, it does not exist, and will not be manufactured for Sprint.

He credited my account for the inconvenience and I praised his good work to his manager.

I hope this puts and end to all of the confusion I and others have been going through lately.

See, it's great reps like that that make the difference.

Sorry to hear about your getting a blue phone, though.

Considering that many people have already purchased the silver 5500 from Sprint stores, you obviously have found another retarded CS rep. Next time, search.

What the ****? I got another call back from Sprint's Order Tracking department which works with Inventory everyday, and they said that the silver phones ARE coming out.

Sprint customer service has to be the worst out there.

Always search these forums first...

Actually, I do plenty of searching, but when multiple supervisors from Sprint tell me the same thing, as in this case, I am inclined to believe them -- especially over many of the outsider opinions on this board.

I have no control over the fact that Sprint is giving me inaccurate information, repeatedly.

The problem doesn't lay with customer service in this case....it lays with the company's in-house structure. Somehow the correct information isn't getting routed to where it should be. The rep you talked with went out thier way to help you. Even was decent enough to call you back....that shocked me. The need someone to come in there in actually reconstruct each dept and link them together in a way that it benefits their customers as well as thier emplyees.

So are you still going to get the silver one? I thought they were coming out with a 2 tone color one also?

You're absolutely right. Although misinformed, Mark, the representative I spoke with, did an outstanding job, and when I praised him to his manager, the manager agreed that Mark was an wonderful asset to their department.

You know, given all the hassle I've been through to get the silver phone, I am still interested in getting one, but depending on how much better it looks, I would be pretty content to stay with the blue one in the end. I love this phone!

I know.....I love the way the keypad lights up. That blue is awesome. I just switched from Suncom. I had an old Panasonic...nothing hi-tech. So you can only imagine how I acted when I turn this phone on! You would have thought I won the lotto.

If you read on the side of the box, the 5500 comes in, it says they come in blue, silver and 2 tone grey. I was also told by sprint reps. that blue was the only color they will come in. Its amazing how you can ask ten different sprint reps. the same question and get ten different answers.

yeah has anyone actually gotten a silver or grey phone yet? i haven't heard of this or seen any pics
also they need a 5400 avatar!

I could have returned my blue 5500 for a silver, but I wanted something different. Also, it's not silver or grey, it's suppose to be silver and grey. Similar to when the 8100, they'll have the navy blue that I have now, and a silver and grey 2 tone phone. As I said, I know for a fact Sprint is shipping them and certain stores have gotten them. I've had enough of silver flip phones so that's why I kept the blue. But the silver and grey 2 tone exists as was previously stated and stores ARE getting them.

im getting that phone for christmas

i think it looks better in the blue

I agree, the last 4 phones I had were silver. Just about every phone everyone's carrying around these days is silver. I think the navy blue is refreshing, I like it because it's unique.

It being blue was actually one reason why I liked the 5500 more. Even with nextel, I got tired of the silver of the i85, but the i90 always looked sharper.
