HI I just got a new Sanyo 8100 and the key pad backlight is very dim! Is there anyway to make it brighter?

open it up and put in a new brighter led?

I think that it's supposed to be like that, I played with the 8100 a couple of times and the first time it was dim I thought it was cause I was in a well lit mall, the second time was in my car at night, and it was still dim, so it may just be that way.

You can change out the LEDs, if you are skilled at soldering.

Yep, its a common complaint with the silver 8100's, I guess that the pearl and the navy 8100s have a different key/led setup that makes it much easier to read the keys.

Not sure how dim, but I have learned that the different colors of 8100 have diffeent electronics inside.

I had a blue and gold phone and had serious problems with the hands free headset. Mic would send garbled sounds.

Sprint replaced the blue phone and the headset....same result.

Finally, I spoke to two of their support people who acknowledged the problem and they replaced with a silver one and it was fixed.

The silver phone is dimmer than my blue phone, but it sounds better.

Also, Sprint discontinued offering the colored Sanyo phones and only offers silver now.

The 8100 LED's are useless. Cheapo candybar phones from Verizon, Cingular and T-Mobile are so much brighter.
Oh well my 8100 does have good reception
