S56 owners: Pretend you can't afford a Bluetooth headset

I'm in the market for a headset for my S56, but I'm not sure I want to shell out upwards of $100 for a Bluetooth model. What are my options? Which ones promise the best sound and features?

Would I be better off buying a headset made specifically for the S56, or getting that small $3 adapter and using any headset with a 1/8" plug?

Thanks,
Jason

I bought one on Ebay for $31, it's an HTC-0221. Don't know who makes it, I was a little scared because I couldn't find much information on it. The seller said they would refund it so I gave it a go.

It works perfectly! I'm very pleased with the purchase, considering the Siemens handsfree is around $15 I consider it a hec of a bargain, especially when the Jabra is still around $80.

Give Ebay a go...

I just wish the Shure headset came in a bluetooth model...... I'd pay an arm..... maybe even a leg for it.

Get the Jabra headset... on Ebay they range from $65- $85 dollars. Check the BST forum here on HoFo you may be able to find a good deal on a BT headset.

Is it worth it conisdering how much the battery drains with BT on? By the way I just picked up the S56 and it's great. It has better RF than my 6310i! I just wish it was a little bigger.

I assume that Bluetooth (and ir) communications can be turn off and that this will decrease battery drain. Please confirm this?

Yes it will decrease battery drain. If you have a BT headset don't you have it on all the time to take calls? If you want a headset the free wired one is cheaper and easier than the bluetooth one.

Cool technology, just not there yet.

I have two bluetooth headsets and love both of them. A look at ebay will give you an idea of the different models available. A bluetooth search on google helps also. Things to look at... standby time, talk time, call/answer capabilities. Bluetooth technology will be cheaper in the near future, so expect more choices of headsets with better options. I would wait until after the first of the year to see what might happen with the technology.

yeah, BT drains the juice about 10% faster than w/o
