X70 yay or nay??

I'm in Singapore right now and wanted to buy a new phone to bring back to Canada.
On my shortlist is the X70 which is available for CAD$677 including a bluetooth headset.
The other is the SE T610.

After going through this site, frankly I'm a little scared to get the X70.

Is it a problematic camera?
I'm assuming that it being an evolution of the GD88 that all bugs would have been worked out.

Is the battery life short?

Bottom line: Should I do it or stay away??

TIA

David

yay

depends on what is important to you. Pretty much a step up from gx8x, but only 1 step. The BT is very convienent but not very well implemented. Camera sux compared to other similiar priced camera phones. Size is excellent, style is excellent....pretty full featured for PIM, Phonebook is well organized. Sync tool would be great if it supported bluetooth. Battery life is marginal. I keep the bluetooth on all of the time and I can not go more than 1.5-2 days without charging with moderate usage and I shut my mobile off at night.

If the battery life was better...at least 3-4 fulldays, a megapixel camera and more attention was paid to bluetooth, this would be the best mobile on the market in it's pricerange

overall, I am satisfied,if just barely with it.

Let's say put a comparasion between E715 and X70, which one would win?

well supposedly the x70 has a better battery life. It also is a tri band phone and has bluetooth. I'd go with the x70. I did.

I have been spending the last two weeks figuring out if Im going to buy the Samsung E700 or Panasonic X70 and I have finally decided for the E700.

My decision is based on that E700 include Java, which I can play more with than bluetooth and triband which would have been nice, but I dont think Ill ever need it. The email client is non-existent in the E700, but I expect that I soon can download the Java email client I like and install that on the E700.

I think the E700 seems more solid than the X70, and people in here and an other forum I have been following have found all sorts of petty flaws in the X70, and I don't like that. I would never accept a voice mail icon that dont disappear on a phone I paid 3300 DKr. eg. (about little less than 500$) for. The price is for an unlocked phone, no provider breathing yer neck every month blah blah.

The main reason I dont like the E700, is because I know everybody else will buy one and there will be nothing special in owning that phone. But what the heck... if it is the best product, I can customize and play the most with, I can live with it.

I have an X70 - it wins over the SE T610 for me just because the menu system on the T610 is just so irritating - if you can, borrow one of each from friends and compare the feel.

Camera on mine seems OK - obviously it's not brilliant, but no phone cameras are, and I don't have the problems with dots etc. that everyone else is complaning of. Having tried many camera phones (I used to work in a mobile phone warehouse), X70 seems to me to be one of the better cameras.

I compared the two briefly and came away with the X70. The Z600 has a funny form factor - thick and wide, which is suprising considering SE specializes in small and sleek phones (T610, T68i, etc...). I really don't see what the fuss is about over the Z600 since it is essentially the T610 repackaged as a flip phone. I hated the feel of the buttons (similar to the T610's) and the size defeats the purpose of having a flip phone IMO.

I'm very happy with my decision. Yes, the X70 does have a few quirks but they are no deal killers. I guess I'm lucky since I don't have the VM icon problem. I figure one of the reasons for the seemingly endless complaints is the small user base. If panny phones were as popular as Nokia or Samsung phones then perhaps several of the quirks would have been solved by now. The phone is still relatively new and I assume with our collected efforts that solutions will be found or perhaps with future firmware updates.

I've used the GD88 before and now I got the X70 it's got everything I look for in a cellphone and I love its look and size it's perfect. I think I'm falling in love with this phone .. too bad I scratched it though ..

I have it for about 10 days now & I'm extremely happy...its pros:
Very clear & bright internal display, cool vertical external one, huge memory pool, small & solid device-no backlashes, stiff attached flip (I also have the Samsung S500 & I'm sick of the flip moving from left to right), great RF, very clear (not so loud though) polyphonic ringtones, unlocked IrDA port, speedy BT.
Its cons: The well known blue dots, short standby time, no java..
