NEC 525 Data cable question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Can anyone tell me how to upload/download Pics to/from the phone? I have the cable, but the software doesn't have an option to do this, from what I can tell.

Thanks,

NL5

From the software you browse to the folder with the pictures (or sounds) then highlight the photo name. The file name has to end in .gif or .jpg. The click the arrows that point to the right and it moves the photo to the larger section on the right.

I too just got me NEC 525 w/ USB cable and the synch software only seems to allow synching mailbox, tasks & schedules. Am I missing something? TIA.

I must be missing something as well...how do you "browse to the folder"? I only get three choices - mailbox, tasks & schedules.

TIA

We must be talking about two different software products. I'm referring to the NEC Memory Editor. There is a browse button right there on the screen.

Where do you get the Memory editor?

I'm a big fan of "teach a man to fish" ... Go to google.com and type in "nec memory editor". Found http://www.nechdm.com/525.asp

Also found other thread about not being able to transfer mmf ringtones and found a product to convert mmf to smf PSMplayer 5.0 http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic3624-0-asc-0.html

HTH,
Mark

Thank you. Got it. Works like a champ. Haven't tried ringtones yet though......

Coolio. Please follow up if you find a good source for free smf/mmf files. Polyphonic seems too limited (old school )

Thanks,
Mark

When I try to send a picture to my phone it turns the phone off

Does refer to this behavior of turning off after transfer. Strange but true.

Are you seeing the file transferred?

Could I use the USB cable of N8 for NEC 525 locked w/ AT&T? The price of the original NEC 525 cable is a rip in USA.

Posted by: Lanzar

I will be selling my cable since I am returning the phone

Posted by: neokao

My friend is going to bring me one from Taiwan. N8 cable costs around 10 bucks there. I just want to make sure it works with NEC 525.

Posted by: Lanzar

Well I will sell mine to anyone who wants it for a reasonable price..

It hasn't even been used heh I decided I hated the phone before I got to use the cable.

Posted by: neokao

Lanzar, how much would you like to sell that NEC 525 cable?

Posted by: Lanzar

$15 shipped or so, something like that.

Posted by: neokao

Lanzar, I think I will take it. Please check your private message.

I'm glad I found out about that, I thought the USB cable was only for data/address book synchronization. Thanks!

The cable you are talking about... you mean you can upload your pictures to your PC?

Hmmm. The more I read the more valuable the cable I have seems to become. I may just put mine up for sale on EBay with a BuyItNow for $100.

Posted by: dwireless

Ha Ha..... Do it fast because NEC will start shipping them January 13.
That Is a great idea. You might even get it...

Posted by: neokao

There are some N8 usb cables on ebay. N8 is the Asia version of NEC 525/515. I assume that will work although it is not confirmed yet. You might wanna give it a shot.

F.Y.I. everyone....... The data cable for the N-8 works fine with the 525. No problems at all.

Posted by: mnadig

Did you ever sell it?
<never mind> - just saw sold thread.

I downloaded the memory editor program and can transfer files from my phone to my pc, but get a "communication carried out the time out" error when trying to transfer files onto my phone. Why does it do this and how can i get it to let me transfer files onto my phone?
