Originally posted by elmersglue I dont get this...Im putting in the ip setting and port number according to www.waptunnel.com and it seems to only work with the 9201 port setting. Even then, i cant access any websites. When i try to set a homepage, it doesnt work. Ive tried the yahoo one and the google one. Both dont work. Isnt there a way just to type in a website? Someone please help me. I probably blew like 15 airtime minutes trying to figure this out. Thanks

Originally posted by mcewen98 I have an 8900 and just set up WAP using www.waptunnel.com. It seems to work ok. I hear that there are a lot of options for home pages. http://www.google.com/wpl or http://wap.oa.yahoo.com I have proxy 1 set to the homepage of yahoo and proxy 2 set to google's. |

Originally posted by mcewen98 it's in the settings of the browser. Does anybody know why there are 2 sections to input an IP and Port for each Uplink 1, 2, and 3 menus? I have only changed the settings for the first one and left the 2nd one alone but what is it used for? |

Originally posted by Arlo77 Now for the one negative I have found.... It seems that the homepage I have stored in the browser settings reverts back to the Verizon default when I power the phone off and back on. Has anyone else noticed this? It's a real pain to re-enter it each time I power up... |
Try the OpenWave browser settings, and Circuit Linger. Default to 30 secs, I think.

Originally posted by SimpleCoax I can't believe I got this working through my provider. So anyway, how do I just type addresses into this little browser then? I don't see anything in the manual or on here about it. I don't want to be stuck on google, or changing the home page to get to a new site. |
I usually use the Menu->3->6 to enter the browser if I don't want to go to my home page. And modify the bookmark before I get on line.

Originally posted by Waruwaru Only way that I figured out is to use the BOOKMARK settings... Move your cursor to select the Button on top. Select it, click 5 for bookmark, click on a entry, hit "Menu" (right button), and edit... Unless you type 50 words per minute on your cell, it will be eating your airtime while you type in the URL. Plus, there are only so many worthwhile WAP sites. I usually use the Menu->3->6 to enter the browser if I don't want to go to my home page. And modify the bookmark before I get on line.

Hey I've changed everything and it was all working fine but it seems that in the last 3 or 4 days that nothing will connect. i'm getting a network connection, but it will just give me the "sending))))))))" over and over again for about 10 minutes. Before this happened it kept telling me "server not responding" for every site i tried. Now it wont even do that.
Please post any ideas you may have! Thanks!!!

Originally posted by SimpleCoax I actually just got my bill and what I thought was "free" (just used my normal minutes) is charged as data usage. Like an extra $10 when I barely used it. I don't think I'll be using WAP again. |

Originally posted by infinitefury Here's a stupid question (but I couldn't find the answer anywhere in this thread): How can you tell if you've disconnected? My first connect seemed like it took a second or two. Each subsequent connect was very quick. I'm just a bit paranoid about being connected long than I intend. Let me add on to that stupid question with this one: does the WAP browser funciton like a normal web browser, with a cache and the like? That might explain my quick connection

Originally posted by Waruwaru On the Verizon 8900, when you are connected, you get a little blue telephone handset icon (between the signal strength and 1x icon). Yes, the browser does have a very small cache. When you are disconnected the icon is not there. If you close the flip, it disconnects. Or you can select Exit in the OpenWave menu to disconnect too. |

Originally posted by infinitefury Hmm.. when connected I get a yellow box with a black N in it. edit: up consulting the manual, I see that indicates that I'm using the UP browser. WTF is the UP browser? |

Originally posted by drbruce Sorry to ask a stupid question but my Free WAP doesnt work. Well I already put in the IP addresses and all the ports and stuff but when I open the Web browser it just says "sending" with the N icon on the top. Nothing happens. After a few minutes it says "server not responding". What do I do...it never worked. |
