Codes for CDM-8900

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Maxer2112

I figured I would make a thread for all the codes I know and we can add on.

##20022002 - NAM and Voice Options
##1111 - Fades out ???
##1122 - Test menu ???
##2222 - Shows nothing ???
##2769737 (##BROWSER)- Internet options
##242743 (##CHARGE) - Battery info ???

EDIT

I found more at http://www.cdma-gsm.h1.ru/cdma/codes.htm

2539** - Input a key ???
##27732726 - Debug mode ???
##27752345 - SAR TEST ???
##2240 - S/W TEST ???

Those are the only ones that work for me from that site. I have no clue what those menu's are for, hopefully someone smarter then me can make something usful of it.
I will post more when I find them.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you actually input the codes to get to the menus?

I have the Audiovox 8900 phone.

Posted by: mcewen98

Nevermind, figured it out.

Posted by: ptank666

OK, I have tried punching in the codes from the main screen but nothing happens, they are interpreted as phone numbers. So my question is:
a) from what screen/menu item do I type the codes?
b) Is there a prefix/suffix to activate them?

Thanks.
-AC

example:

type in ##Browser, then hit the END key.

Same goes for the other codes. Just do ## before and hit the END or Hangup key after

Also Work for vox 8500

Posted by: darketernal

I found that ##DEBUG or ##33284

will show u a debug screen

i did some of these codes...didnt change anything, i didnt thuink, but when i started the phone back up, the flower back ground was on, and there was a new icon at the top, its a face witha blue line comming out...whats that? and its volume is al the way up for key-tones?

someone help!

Posted by: mercuryrising

ok i fixed it, but what was it?

could it just be TTY?

Posted by: johnbrain666

I always read about the "Field test" to see how good the reception REALLY is. How do I access that hidden code?

I had the same problem. It's actually the automatical call-answer and is option dependent. Menu-1-7-5-1-3 and have it on off. If you set it to anything else it displays that icon. I find it a little odd that the manual does not cover that icon or service.

##2773 <end>

The ec value is supposed to tell you the signal strength value, but I don't know how to read it except that apparently the closer to zero (it's a negative number) the better the signal. Hopefully somebody who knows how to read this screen will speak up.

Posted by: mentalbob

The phone automatically answers after the selected number of seconds. In the case of the CDM8900 the phone has to be open or in handsfree mode to do it.

Posted by: slick218

how do i get rid of the debug screen
i typed in the code to see what info it would give me and now its like the debug screen is "always on top" of every other menu and my bg pic

Did you try power off and/or pop the battery out?

Posted by: slick218

powering off/battery removal doesn't change the debug mode you have to re enter the code
stupid me

##2250 [END] RFNV CONTENTS

Posted by: FunkMonk010

What the hell does that do. That had a ton of options. That seemed like a huge code there.

For the ##20022002 (NAM Programming), you can enter your MSL (for VZW: 000000) and you can access phone programming! You can also change your vocoder! (13K QCELP is a better-sounding vocoder, but many systems are forcing EVRC for spectrum considerations.)
##1122 will allow you to test the ringer, vibrator, and PCM Loopback (Voice Echo).
##2222 required me to pop out my battery to be able to do anything.
##BROWSER will allow you to use Free WAP on VZW.
##CHARGE seems to have lots of 0s in it and not much else.
2539** is the A-Key or Authentication Key. Don't mess with it!!
##27732726 will allow you to access debug mode, as well as other stuff.
##DEBUG doesn't seem to work on VZW.

What other options do choose after ##Browser? I see they are a few more options. Does this allow you to sruf the web for free? If so, and you select this option, does it reset itself after you disconnect the call? Do you have to program the phone to go back to the default settings? I am not very familar with the codes.

Don't forget ##test [ok]

Allows you to force analog, CDMA, PCS or Cell. mode only

:-)

Posted by: mentalbob

That's the rockin'est option ever! Now maybe those folks who want to force Sprint'll have an easier time.

Can some one describe what the differences are.. CDMA and analog are self explanatory, but what is PCS & CELL?

Thanks

Posted by: SQFreak

PCS = 1900MHz frequencies
Cell = 800MHz frequencies

I have the Audiovox 8900 connected with Telus in Canada. The ##20022002 - NAM and Voice Options code does not work on my handset, (I think it may be different for Telus). Does anyone know what this could be???

Posted by: mercuryrising

what do the different vocodr settings do?

If you go to:

Set NAM [1] > Enter password: 000000 > NAM 1 [2] > Full Setup [2] > PRL Info. [6] > Roam Ind. [4] > "DEFAULT ROAM INDICATOR": on.

Is that possibly the option for the sub-LCD flashing back and forth between 'VZW' and Time? No buttons seem to work to change it to 'OFF'. Has anyone figured it out?

Mostly everything else seems to be changeable. (Don't mess with what you have no understanding of, people!)

##TELUS

Here's a couple interesting codes I stumbled upon the other day:

##PORT (##7678) - Allows you to change the diagnostic, and modem port settings on the phone. This would be useful for Verizon customers who do not have a Menu->Settings->Data Svc->Port menu option to facilitate the change.

##BAUD (##2283) - Set the data port baud rate.

Incidentally, if you change the diagnostic port of the phone to "USB DIAG" you no longer have to specify the modem port in BitPim, and you can use the auto detected port. Furthermore, the negotiation with the phone appears to happen immediately, as opposed to after 5 seconds or so.

Thanks Zaediex, You are the cell phone god... I read what you did to get the data cable working on this phone as well... You know your stuff...

## TELUS works, but what is the password???

Many thanks for this info.

I live in a "marginal" area for reception. Too many times, in the middle of a digital (pix, application) download/upload the phone decides the analog signal is stronger. Being able to force the digital feed (when I want) is a big help.

Now, if only I could improve the contrast on the sub screen, and somebody made a stand alone battery charger for the 8900, I would be a very happy camper.

The password is the MSL for your phone. That code is a unique id for your handset. If you have a cable you can find it hiding on the filesytem. If you don't, you could always try calling Telus and asking them nicely.

Which file is this code in? Thanks!

Posted by: nuxper

Zaediex I also have the cable... Where in the filesystem is it hiding??? Please help... You are the 8900 GOD!!!

I suggest looking for 6 digit numbers in the hexdumps of the files in the nvm directory on the filesystem.

Z...

Be forewarned that you turn your phone into an expensive paper weight by messing with the NAM settings menu.

Posted by: stafinskijm

All I did was hit end and it exited the debug screen, try that. Good Luck!

Try - ##8-3-7-8 then press the OK button.
That should get you to Force Mode.

How does this that effect your billing?

Its negative number always, if your signal(Rx) is closer to cero you have good signal but if your signal is near cero( -110) you have poor signal, its in db.
