Looking for some help in choosing a phone.

Okay, looking for a little help as to which would be best in this situation.

Phone is used more in the London/Brantford area as opposed to Toronto or something overly metropolitan.
Phone also is quite liable to be dropped(last two have had cracked displays due to this happening often enough), so durability is probably key after making sure it'll have reception in country areas.
Talking battery life also is important as it does can get used for up to a couple hours in a day.

Choices on the plan are Audiovox CDM-8200, LG TM-250, Nokia 3586i, Samsung N370, Audiovox CDM-8600.

I did a quick search around and didn't see many posts about reception outside GTA, and regarding the durability of the phones.

The LG and 8200 are out. Of those phones, I would take either the 3586 or the Samsung. The Sammy gets the nod in your case because of better battery life and the fact it comes with 2 batteries.

you might also want to consider the kyocera 3245...that would almost perfectly fit your criteria (although, caution should be made to not drop any cell phone).

Yeah, I would throw the 3245 in there too, but it wasn't on your list.

Unfortunately it's not one of the phones listed as being available for this plan, so I don't know if specific requests can be made or not.

not available for a specific plan??

what plan are you talking about??

you can get any phone and put it on any plan.

Nokia 3586i all the way...it's changeable faceplates make dropping this phone a little easier to fix - and much cheaper. Plus this phone has been doing really well for bell....good reception and features for a low price.

It's a corporate one. Like if you're working for such and such company, this is the plan, here are the phone choices.

dont matter if its a corp plan.. you can add any bell phone that is currently available to regular customers..

the nokia 3586 is very good... i have not received any back to get serviced from our customers yet.

has anybody yet??

Greetings,

The Nokia or the samsung, in my opinion, is your best bet.

With the Nokia, get yourself a faceplate, so that when you drop it, you'll crack the faceplate instead of the phone.

the Samsung is a bit out-datted, but it has gotten excellet reviews. It's built quite solid, but if you crack the screen, its gonna cost ya to fix it.

we have started seeing a few come in with screens that don't work (reminds me of the kyocera 2255 problem)...the phones work, the keys light up, but the screen is just black...if you press firmly on the Nokia logo above the screen, the screen will usually come on...the backlight on the screen usually works, just that there is no "writing" on it...possibly just a small batch, we have sold tons of these phones and have only seen 3 come back, all with the same issue...hopefully not a big deal...but keep your eyes open.

Sounds like a loose screen I/O connector. Similar problems happened to III series Palms which had their screen ribbon cable loosened.

The 3586i is should still be a good choice. Add it's performance with the ability to load java games, ringtones and wallpaper at will with the optional data cable makes it one great phone.
