My review

When i opened the box, i noticed that the phone was small and light, IMO, its the perfect size for me...I noticed that the bezels are pretty small, and its clear on the back..this is a cool phone because i've never seen it in person till today..here are my likes and dislikes as of right now

Likes-

The pearl white color
Perfect size and weight
Menu is not hard to use at all, i actually like this menu alot since you can customize it
White LEDs look nice, in a lighted room, the screen appear bluish, just like the color on this forum
Ringing volume is quite loud
Reception is great...1 bar reception in my house, i can make a call to my brother nice and clear...alot clearer than the T66 i reviewed!!
Earpiece volume is good, certainly can be louder, but its good enough
I actually like the keypad!!! Most ppl will probably hate it
Voice recording is pretty fun..hehe

Dislikes-

No english Itap
battery icon is useless, using the battery meter is more accurate
cant customize profiles like Nokias..or maybe i dont know how to yet
Built quality not that good
Flip is a bit wobbly, but i can live with it
Games are BORING..Only blackjack is considered "fun"
green led keypad...should of use blue leds
voce recording only 30 secs long
3 side buttons on left is helpful, but it creates less space to hold phone

Ill will post more info as i use this phone for a longer period of time

YMMV, but here is my viewpoint...

RF: Better than the 8390
Sound Quality: Excellent, just like the old grey v66
Earpiece Volume: A bit louder than my old grey v66
LCD Colour: The backlight is white

No chips as of yet on the white phone and I do not plan on finding out if it does!

As for the silver, I did like the colour. The phone was just a bit too new for its own good.

The RF performance is definitely a lot better than the 8390. In areas where I would get no coverage with the 8390 I get two bars with the white v66. Of course, your mileage may vary. When I look into the antenna on the white v66 I see copper. Perhaps this has something to do with the improved performance.

As for other differences, the most notable is the white LED backlight. It makes the screen readable. Unique concept for Motorola. It is similar to the 8390, but the Nokia's backlight is a bit brighter.

The software update brings it some User Interface features similar to the V60c/V70.

No auto-lock on the Hong Kong white v66 SE...and no auto lock on my old Italian silver v66.

The manual for the silver V66 is a bit out of date so download the manual for the V70 if you have the white special edition v66. Here is the link:

do you really think that the V66SE has better reception than 8390? I'm debating between the V66SE, 8390 and T66...

i'd say yes...V66 SE have almost the same reception as the V60G..which is like..one of the phones with best reception...go with T66 if you like how small it is...i had it for a week..its not a bad phone but the color of the phone and screen is dull...and the keys were kinda hard to press...8390 is a nice phone...but i wanted to be different so i got the V66 SE

The v60 although with metal is garbage the v66 is soo much easier to handle and u can keep it in ur pocket, provided that u get a stup antenna. BTW the sharp ST77 md isn't that nice i mean considering all the phones get a e909.

v.60 is too slippery. The metal isn't garbage, just too slippery. If only the v66 had external display, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat.

BTW, If you're going to compare MD players, at least compare ones that were released about the same time. The E909 came out 10 months after the ST77, of course it would be better/nicer. After owning the ST55 first, I loved the LEDs on the ST77.

Fine the e900 is still much better, i enjoyed it until it fell to it's untimely death on hard concrete. Now i use the 900 remote with my old e77.

i wanted to get this MD player http://www.minidisct.com/products/pana_sjmj88.html

but i didnt like the controller..and it was a little more expensive than the ST77

I really like the sony NET MDs when they came out, but the sound sucks ***, you have to put the mds in a sharp or a decent stereo to get something nice. I'm waiting for the panasonic net md. best feature is the charging stand with speakers that acts as alarm clock as well.

Sony NetMD MZ-N1 rulez!!!!!!!!!
Sony ALL THE WAY!!!

hahah i 've been saying this on another forum about MD that looks just like this......(thanks vBulletin, your forums are great)
