My parents bought the Audiovox 8455 and I am using the Audiovox 8600. I really like the 8455. It seems to have better reception and voice quality than my 8600. But one thing I've noticed with the 8600 is not to trust the bars, because even if you don't have any bars indoors, you can still receive and make phone calls, and I don't drop any calls either. I am currently using the Samsung A540 on Telus, and sigh, it owns the Audiovox 8600 on Bell in every single part of my house.

Some things I LIKE about this phone:
-small like a Motorola v60
-nice colour screen
-easy to use interface
-you can upload personal images to the phone and use it as a screensaver
-you can purchase a data cable and upload ringtones to your phone

Some things I DON'T LIKE about this phone:
-phone book is sorta hard to navigate to (don't bother trying to search for a name while driving)
-can't use personal images as wallpaper, only as screen saver
-the ring on the front of the phone looks kinda weird
-the blue background for the front display isn't that blue (like my Samsung a540)
-you can't set unique ringers for individual callers
-there is not special tune for voice mail or text message notification, just some stupid beeps

Overall, I would give this phone an 8/10.

I agree with most of the point you added, however, while I hated the phonebook at first, it's a different story since I've learned more about the search function. It is not that convenient, but it is working.

For the ringer, well, on my version of the phone(the one sold with bell), I'm allow to do so. `

For the price, I believe it is a good phone.

I am sorry, but I made a terrible mistake. Upon playing around with the phone some more, I found out that you CAN assign unique ringers to different entries in your phone book. HOWEVER, on my parents 8455, it's much easer to assign different ringers (e.g. I could have a different ringer for ppl with caller ID, and a different one for ppl without caller ID, like for the ppl with restricted caller IDs).

I can't compare the 8600 with the other phones, since I have never owned them. But I do like the 8600 a lot.

Why?

In no particular order:
It's small.
It has good (but not great) battery life.
Excellent color screen - that's "colour" for you north of the border types
Backlit external display with time/date and caller ID
Easy to navigate once you forget how every other phone you've ever used works
In nearly 2 months of use only one dropped call (and that may have been the other guy's fault)
"Wild card" name search in the phone book
Single key "etiquette mode" function
Assignable ring tones

What I don't like:
Circle trim around front display is goofy looking
Menu structure takes some getting used to
Max name length in the phone book is too short

My other issues with the phone are provider related (i.e. Verizons banner on the front display, etc.)
