Originally posted by 7-endless Well...finally I found a util (Quick Eeprom v3.2) that is able to get rid of the Aircraft Check... As well, this neat little utility also allowed me to enable the "Band Selection" menu on my M55...woohoo!! I downloaded Quick Eeprom v3.2 and ran it with the following options checked only: -Disable AeroCheck -Enable "Band Selection" menu I'm not sure what "Enable DES" does but if anyone knows what this means, feel free to post it here... Hope this helps!! EDIT: BTW, I downloaded it from http://www.gsm-multifund.de/index2.html (I just clicked on the Siemens link on the left and then on the next page I clicked on "Tuning". The page will then have a link to "siem quick eep v3.2") |

Originally posted by 7-endless I used the same cable that vkwan has...it's an aftermarket USB cable that I got from the Pacific Mall here in the GTA... It didn't have an external power source either, but the packaging says you can use it with one though I don't know how... |

Originally posted by 666 what is the difference overseas??? i don't get it. why is it be more benefitial by using manual selection than using automatic band selection?? is it suppose automatic will be much easier for users, especially those users didn't even know what is band or which band to choose from, so the phone will choose it for them?? |

Originally posted by 7-endless I'm not too familiar with the networks overseas but I guess what I was trying to get at is who's to say that you really know which frequency your phone is using? For example, if or when Rogers eventually gets their GSM850 up and running here in Toronto, if your phone does not have any sort of manual selection or any type of indicator, you'd never really know which GSM network or band you are on...but having this type of manual selection would put all those doubts to rest. Not a big deal for most I guess, but it's nice to have the ability to select it manually...

Originally posted by 666 first, I am not try to argue or anything, no offend. second, M55 doesn't support rogers gsm850. it only supports gsm900/1800 outside NA and gsm1900 here. and even though it supports everything, it should automatically choose it because you put in different sim. for example: if you put in HK-CSL sim (900/1800), the phone will choose 900/1800 and if you put in fido sim (1900) teh phone will choose 1900. all selections will be done automatically without users' hassles. so it will easier for users (in the user point of view). especially some users doesn't even know what band is......... |
