Is there a place in vancouver where I can pick up the data cable? Without paying fido $55 for a retail one.

Many thanks.

There's a new cellphone accessories shop at Metrotown Centre lower level that has it. Exact location: the first shop next to the entrance from the B2 parking lot (the shop previously was the Roger AT&T retailer shop). B2 has two entrance to the mall with the other one on the left takes you to T&T Supermarket. Sorry if my description is not clear for I forgot all the names for the shop.

The shop only has the Serial ver. cable though. I know because I was just there earlier today trying to find the same thing for my friend. Oh yes, and they're selling it for $25.

Hope the above helps

What's the difference between serial cable & USB cable? I read somewhere that only serial cable can be used to unlock M55. Is that true?

Regarding the speed, I don't think there're lots of data to be transfered between M55 and computer. So that probably not a big deal.

The only difference between the two is that the usb cable can charge ur phone bettery. Speed wise they should be the same because the usb cable uses COM port emulation.

The USB cable should be able to unlock the phone as long as its not an oem cable.

Info: Difference between the oem and no name cable is that the rs 232 chip inside the oem cable gets its power from the phone and the no name cable gets its supply from the PC.

Got my SE T616 USB data cable at Orangewave Wireless in Van. for about $30 Cdn tax included last month. I think they have the cable for M55 as well. call them to check it out.

Is there a way to tell whether it's an oem cable? Are those cables from Fido oem version or not?

Hi scoobadoo, do you have their number or address?
Thanks.

[EDIT] Never mind, since they're OEM one...

I don't know their address, but do know thier number (604)263-3688.

Well, the OEM data cable works great for me. No problem for transfer ringtones, java games, wallpapers... so on. I just don't understand how you guys want to purchase a manufacturer's data cable. Those cables are overpriced and are farmed out to 3rd party anyway. That's just my 2 cents tho
