excuse the questioning, i'm a p900 newbie.

i'm running jaguar (10.28) on a powerbook g4 and would like to download some apps for my nifty new p900. can i do that with my powerbook or must i find a kind soul who will give me access to their pc?

also, can anyone direct me to places with different apps? i've been to handango and a few others – just want to make sure i get the most out of this great device.

thx from the newbie.

p.s. i've been reading this forum for over a month in anticipation of purchasing a p900 and this community helped me make my buying decision – thx.

Of course you can use your powerbook to put apps on your p900... You have to use Bluetooth though. The cable/cradle won't work with the Mac, it's not supported.

Find the Bluetooth Set-up Assistant and get your phone and computer seeing each other... Then take the app file (a generic file with a '.sis.' suffix) and drag and drop it on top of the Bluetooth File Exchange application (utilities folder I think? I put it in my dock) and it should start transferring...

Good luck, once you get it down, it's super fast and easy.

SkockD, did your transfer work well? How are things so far with the P900?? Wanted to get one , but the soso syncing with Macs has been of slight concern.

Ohenri -- things are going quite well with the p900, thanks for asking. i love the phone but am still going through some adjustment – i was a long time pocket pc user so the smaller screen and new (to me) gui take some getting used to. all-in-all i think it's a wonderful device.

are you syncing well?? there was an earlier thread about some of the challenges in getting it to sync well. This post detailed most of the issues. Also made me question my purchase. I was looking to replace both my palm T and 6610 - though I like both. But I would love to get my hands on the P900 but cannot justify the cost if I cannot make that transition. Know nothing on Symbian either...

yeah, i read that thread too.

on my end the bluetooth is working perfectly – always has. and isync gets everything synced w/o a hitch.

perhaps i'm lucky???

wow... what are your settings like?? you are lucky.

Might have to read more into this. Thanks.

to be honest they're just the way they were straight out of the box.

something else i should mention...

i'm not using a bluetooth dongle. my powerbook has bluetooth built in. perhaps that's why i'm not having issues???

who's to say...

In theory you should be able to use you mac just like a wintel pc with Virtual PC (USB port et al). I have not updated from VPC 5 which was too slow but have friends who use VPC 6 with great success. None of them, though, are P900 users.

Before I go through the hassle of upgrading my VPC, wonder what experience you'all might have had?

Thanks
Michael

The Mac always has been a doddle to connect to and isync works period.

But the only hitch is firmware upgrading which you need a PC or VirtualPC to run the SE software. I would like to see a Jaguar version of the SEUS seeing as Apple and Sony are quite good friends.

Now an iPhone well that's a thought.

I am convinced that the T630 was meant to be an iPhone. Look at the color scheme White Plastice, brushed aluminum. Striking resemblance to the iBooks.
