Animated GIF locks up LG VX6000

I emailed to my phone a message with a small animated GIF(attached, in case anyone cares to see it). When I opened the message and viewed the GIF, the animation was working but the phone locked up completely. Power button wouldn't even shut off the phone. I had to remove the battery momentarily just to get the phone back working. I immediately deleted the message. Any idea why this happens?
My phone software version is T60VZV06.
ADDENDUM: I originally posted this on the LG FAQ, which was not appropriate. I got one reply and I replied to that. I have tried to re-post this twice on this forum, but was rejected because of the attachment--because it was a duplicate of the one attached in the LG FAQ forum. I even renamed the GIF and the site still somehow knew it was a duplicate--now that's wierd. Maybe it was really because the subject line was the same, so I altered it this time. If you really want to see the GIF, go to the FAQ section.
Anyhow, to clarify, while the phone was locked up, the screen was displaying the animated GIF perfectly--it was moving and looping at normal speed. But no button would work (I don't remember if buttons beeped--I don't think so), even the power button. I'm wondering if the CPU wasn't bound by something and had no CPU cycles left to do anything but run the GIF. Any ideas?

To dub2003: I didn't create the animated GIF; I pinched it off the Internet just to test it on my phone. I picked it because it was easily small enough to fit on the screen. I attached it to an email in the normal manner and sent it to my phone. When my phone alerted me to a pix message, I selected "View" and after showing me the "From" information, it automatically displayed the animated GIF. It was then that the phone locked up. I never got a chance to "save" the attachment. At least that's the best I can remember how it all happened. After I reset the phone, I deleted the message from the inbox before it caused me more harm. I'm nervous about trying it again.

Animated gifs won't work. The animated screens are a propriatary format.

Ok...version 06 firmware...just emailed a 10k animated gif to my phone from yahoo to my vzwpix address. when i scroll down to the picture it is fully animated! Saved the picture. Went to "My Media" and view the image there, not animated. Set it to wallpaper, not animated. Set it to power on, not animated. I attached the file. Let me know if anyone can duplicate. - Jeff
