SMS in Siemens Data suite on M55?

I have a Siemens M55 phone and I am using Siemens Data suite with it... all functions work fine except for one... SMS... when I try "read out" my sms inbox, outbox or archive on my phone, it does not work and I get an error message (Invalid Arguments).
what can be the problem since the phone is working fine with all other functions?
by the way I am using an oem serial cable that pass through a usb-to-serial converter... and this usb adaptor connected to my laptop...
