Verizon will get you somehow... Unless you have unlimited nights/weekends. Then it should be 'free' after 9pm on weekdays, and all weekend long.

There are people reporting that you can just put the MP3 onto the phone and use it as a ring tone. Now i tried the method to get the ringtones on my Audiovox 8900 and it worked, except that ONLY .midi files work... for .mid it tells me to check my email. So i guess only .midi files work for me
And my other question is, whats the time limit on ringtones? Because i transfered couple of long songs (Eiffel65-blue; and ATC - Around the world) and they only play for 30-40 seconds (i havent set them up as my ringtones, just playing them in Media Gallery.

It costs 25 cents to send from one phone to another

Originally posted by chewybang ah, nevermind. I got it to work. You just have to rename the file from .mp3 to .mid or .midi. It will play. And you don't have to go through www.vzwpix.com. Just email yourself from home to 9991234567@vxwpix.com (obviously, put your phone number instead) and voila! It works with under most bitrates as long as it's smaller than 100kb (I've only gotten it to work as high as 40kbps/22,050hz and it sounds really good. You don't need it any higher than that. |
I didn't get any notification of any droppage on this end but...Anyway, it played like crap initially but after I saved it and set it as a ringer its loud and clear. I'll keep on testing...

Originally posted by Thena I went to a website that has ringtones you can download. I saw earlier that if you click on the song to play it you can go to file and save as a midi file. Thats if youre using the windows media or whatever its called. I went to a site and when it opens the ringtone it doesnt use my computer's media player but one from the website. I tried to click on it and do the properties thing but I didnt have a properties option when I did click on it. I'm so lost. At this point I wouldnt mind using GIN if the ringtones and wallpaper I wanted were even available for my phone. Do you think as they come out with software upgrades more ringtones will be available on GIN? |

Originally posted by samsungBen I have no problem downloading the ringtones.. but they are in the sound clip folder.. and i cant assign them as tones... just in pic messages.. is there a way around this?? i found the best way to get a mp3 ringtone is... 1) convert the mp3 to a wave. 2) trim it down. 3)save the wav as: PCM 44.100... 16bit mono. 3)encode into mp3 format. 32kbps mono. rename the file to a .mid hope it helps |

Originally posted by acf Z, I'm a little confused what you mean here. Does ringtone="Ringer type->Ringer" on the phone? I use .mp3 clips (from "Downloads") for that. Meaning, those are my incoming ringers when someone calls. And the border (of the wallpaper) is of no consequence to me as I think its barely noticeable compared to that ×××× "time box". Or maybe I'm missing what you are saying completely...?

Originally posted by Zaediex We're talking about features offered by different providers. Telus has the directories laid out differently then Verizon. On the Telus phones you can point the minibrowser to a web url and download the media file into "Sound Clips". However, the "Sound Clips" file cannot be assigned to a ringer. Furthermore, Telus doesn't do the clock readout the same way Verizon has it set up on their version of the 8900. Currently Telus does not have a setup similar to the one Verizon does where you can email your phone number to SMS media on to the handset. Hope that clears things up. ![]() Z... |

Had to mess with the recording quite a bit--insert dead silence to cut down on file size and such. Also, you might have to settle for lower quality in order to keep the file under 100KB.

, um i have a problem when sending the file, if i send it through hotmail it says cannot open pix image or something like that and when i send it through outlook i just get a blank email to my phone
tried both vzwpix.com and also from yahoomail. the mp3 is encoded at 20kbps and 11050 Hz and its only 61 KB
If anyone have verizon and a cable, if you could upload it to your phone and send it to me i'd be willing to pay for your troubles if it works.
