S56 echo

I bought a S56 from AT&T and have encountered a problem. There is an hiss like echo on the phone that I hear on my end. The people on the other end of the line do not hear it.
I was wondering if this is normal or if I got a lemon. My C56 worked great and did not have this problem so I am surprised that the S56 is not just as good.

i sometimes get echoes if i have low signal. are you hearing an echo of your own voice?
