Hello
Just upgraded my Nokia 8390 to the Siemens M55..
Besides the "normal" complaints about the M55 battery life, I have one problem:
I noticed that using the phonebook, you cannot store multiple phone numbers for each name. Thus for "Joe Home" i'd have to use one entry and then "Joe Cell" as another.
Is there a way so that when I press the DOWN key it goes to addressbook rathe rthan my sim phonebook? Or is there a way I can completely disable the internal SIM phonebook?
To get to the address book, i have to HOLD down the left button for 2 seconds and then the first letter for 2 seconds, which isn't bad at all.... 4 seconds of my life, but it seems to be a silly way to do things when all i can do is hit down arrow and then have my names with multiple #s for each name..
What do you guys do for phonebook/addressbook issues??

Hhhmmm...I'm able to save more than one phone number per entry.
Are you sure you have your Default Book set to "Addressbook"? If you have it set to "Phonebook" then it will use your SIM card which you won't be able to save more than one number to an entry.

Yes
I did choose Addressbook as default
yet everytime i hit the left button I have to confirm my choice?!?!?
Also when I hit the down ARROW (which i'm assuming is the teh way to dial numbers) I automatically enter my SIM memory??
Is there a way I can either:
1. Stop it from asking me if i'm sure i want to enter the addressbook OR
2. Set the DOWN KEY to enter the phone internal addressbook and NOT my SIM?
How do you people search for a number? Do you use left key or down arrow? And does it go to phonebook (sim) or addressbook (internal memory)?
thanx

If you go to menu then 1-5 to verify that you have defaulted the it to address book.
The left key is also defaulted to allow you to choose between the two books i believe.
The phonebook is your sim which does not store multiple entries per name..
howeever the Address book does keep up to 5 numbers per name.

Hitting the Left soft key briefly will always come up with a prompt asking if you really want to start the phonebook or addressbook or whatever you have the left soft key set to...this is normal. The reason for this is to allow you to change what you want the left soft key assigned to...if you don't want it to ask you then you either have to use the down arrow or hold down the left soft key for about a couple of seconds...
If you hit the down arrow key and you are entering the "Phonebook" instead, then that means your Default Book is not set to the "Addressbook". Make sure you do the following:
-Click on Menu
-Scroll to the Addressbook/Phonebook icon and then click on "Select"
-Scroll down to Default Book and then click on "Select"
-Make sure that Addressbook is "ticked"
When I search for a number I just press the down arrow key to get to my "Addressbook" and then I start entering the first couple letters of the name I want to call...

ahhh
ok thats how you make it DEFAULT..
i thought simply chosing it via left button made it default. Thanks for the help i will try it out (as soon as my phone is charged).
Also, since you've had your m55 for a while, what is your illumination set at and how many days do you get out of it? I got one day and one night off the first charge (i gave it a good 12 hours or so).. hopefully that should increase to 2 days (although i'll be playing w/ it less and using it more like a phone!!)
thanks

I have my illumination set at 80% and I am now on my 5th cycle and get about 2.5-3 days depending on how much I use it...currently, I have the phone powered on for about a good 15-18 hours of the day and probably make anywhere from half an hour to 1.5 hour(s) of phone calls each day...and then the odd java game here and there of course
