Bluetooth Headset & S55: Transferring Call

Is it possible to transfer a call in-progress to the handset besides clicking the right soft-key and then going to "Transfer to Handsfree"?
For instance, if the call is in progress on the phone, when I click the button on my SE HBH-65, it hangs up?
Would this have anything to do with the enigmatic "Handsfree" profile? I think I am paired using the "Headset" profile but I don't see how I can pair the S55 to the Handsfree profile. The HBH-65 supports both Bluetooth profiles.
