7135 no longer carried by Verizon?

I got my 7135 in October. I've had minor problems/crashes with it but usually can get it back. Now I'm having problems with the graffitti area. The damn thing won't respond to the area top left. It always seemed bad recognizing the grafitti strokes so I switched to Message Ease which worked better but now I can't calibrate it and just won't respond. So...finally decide that's it and I got to Verizon today for them to exchange it...and find out they don't have them any more. They aren't carrying it (I swear I saw it in the store a couple weeks ago). I just checked the web site and sure enough....gone! What's the deal? I wanted palm software, not PalmPC. I might be able to get replacement through Kyocera but geezzz...don't want to fuss with a phone for two years that isn't even supported any more. Anyone have insight on this?

No, this does not mean that Verizon does not carry the phone any more.

The most likely reason is that Verizon has 'quarantined' the phone due to a pending battery recall... they will not be selling the phone until the new batteries are available in January...

Read the battery recall thread under 7135 discussion at www.smartphonesource.com

If you don't know about this website yet and you own a 7135 you will thank me!

If you do know about the website, the battery recall is discussed at length there...

happy holidays to all!

no, according to the rep at the local Verizon store I spoke with today, Kyocera is coming out with a replacement for the 7135 which I have been trying to find out info on for a couple of hours without success.

I have a Treo 600 but I am not too pleased with the AT&T GSM service I am forced to use with it (it's not dual or tri band and I used to have AT&T TDMA service). I am considering ditching the Treo and switching to Verizon for this new Kyocera phone.. the question is, WHEN will it be out and what have they changed other than the CPU? Someone who is an insider, please leak us some news!
