Get to where you can play the ringtone in your In Box (the screen with the VCR-like controls)
Hit Options, then Save.
That will save it so it is available to set as a ringtone using Profiles or Contacts.

I've had no luck with PC Suite myself, I just use the Bluetooth software that came with my Belkin dongle. I've heard PC suite auto-converts the Mp3s, but no luck with getting it to find my 3650.
I convert the mp3s to .wavs on the PC, then send the .wavs to the phone.
The .wavs have to be in PCM format for the phone to play them. Most .wav players, including the little Sound Recorder that comes with windows, can tell you what format the .wav is and let you convert it to PCM.

First off, PC suite has a little icon that is called "converters" on the left margin. Choose this and it will have all the converters there. If you want to send an MP3 to you phone, simply un-check the Wav converter box, and it will send the MP3 straight.
For ringtones, I normally convert to Wav on my PC, then since it is so large use sound recorder to cut out the 30 second clip that I want to use as the ring , and save it at 16 K, 8 bit, Mono. This usually drops the size to about 700kb. Then, send it to your phone using PC suite (E:\sounds\digital) and now the ringtone is ready.
