problem with RPI wireless

I ordered the VX6000 USB Data cable for 29.95 on 12/7/03 before it was out of stock. I received an invoice email immediately after ordering. I waited for 5 days (12/12) and tried calling them, but their phone number keeps disconnecting me. I tried emailing them and they still have not responded (12/21). If anyone has any info about this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jim

I ordered a VX 6000 charging cable on the 9th and got it in a few days - works great!

Posted by: papercliprebel

i ordered the vx6k usb charging cable from rpiwireless on 12/8. rpi charged my card that day itself, but to date i have not received any cable. i figured with the holiday season the mail could be slow, so i waited a few extra days but on 12/19 enough was enough. i emailed rpi about this and they have not reponded yet (it's 12/22) and i've tried calling them but their customer service number firsts asks for your number - so i type that in, but then immediately disconnects me. i've tried the online live service but it always says not available now. this is getting frustrating not because the package is insanely late, but because of their inability to return messges! before i publicly smear this store, i'll give them the benifit of the doubt and assume holiday season is messing with me. could someone give me any tips on contacting them?

Posted by: CLorox

I'd say give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the cable and received it two days later if memory serves me correctly. I imagine they have a lot of orders to fulfill, and that they'll get everyone's items out in the order in which they are received.

Good luck.

Posted by: DAVIDGR

I'm having the same problems! I tried leaving RPIWireless my phone number, but keep getting disconnected. Their live chat also doesn't work.

I was on their 1Express.comm website, and found the VX6000 data/charging cable listed for $39.99. When I click the link, I'm taken to RPIWireless, and the price is $44.99 ! What gives with that?

Since they seem to have stopped updating their websites, and they don't answer their phones, either they're taking a long Christmas break, or they're on permanent vacation! Has anyone heard anything lately? Are any other companies sellling this cable?

Posted by: MikeBuzzsaw

Use their live chat. If you guys still have problems I'll contact personally regarding ur issues. He ships on Mon Wed and Friday prority mail. Maybe he took the holidays off.

Posted by: papercliprebel

argh! after 3 emails, i finally got a reply...for a tracking number for a shipment...to my billing address (and not my shipping address). unfortunately that's 2 states away. the service has definitely been subpar or borderline non-existant. this better be the best charging usb cable ever engineered by man!

Hahaha

Dood he usually does around 400-500 orders at once. Pretty surprising. But trust me good cable!

I'm in the same boat, i also made an order on Dec 7th and here i am waiting for a reply!!!

Any lucky? keep us updated.

Posted by: butterwrapper

It took me about 6 days to get the cable b/c he was took off for christmas or something, but trust me wait for the cable, it is awesome.

Posted by: Noslen

I finally reached as cs at rpiwireless (jason). he told me that the old shipper was fired because he screwed up too many orders, and he said he'll get my order out immediately. hopefully it comes.

Posted by: burr

I ordered mine on Dec. 20th and got an email with the tracking number 3 days later and it arrived a few days ago. I was worried mine would get held up.

Posted by: mikejz

I live in the same state, so I was expecting to get the cable ASAP. I ordered a week ago in hopes of getting it before I go back to school early next week. I even paid $40 for the cable on ebay, and as soon as I ordered they listed it for $30

I have not heard back from them to any of my emails

If I don't hear anything by Tuesday of next week I am reporting them to ebay and leaving negitive feedback.

Posted by: beakmyn

I ordered the cable from them on ebay and got an email from ebay today saying that RPIWireless's account has been suspended and the auction is null and void. That doesn't sound too good.

Posted by: crt

First post!

Now, to the matter at hand:
I had the same thing happen to me - got an email today from ebay saying the auction was null and void because the seller's account was cancelled. I doubt rpi wireless would resort to fraud after being a reputable ebayer for so long (you don't get a positive feedback rating in the high 90% by ripping off your customers)... Though you never know do you. We'll see how things end up - I'll post here if anything happens.

Posted by: mikejz

I filed a paypal fraud report of them

Posted by: beakmyn

Care to elaborate, so the rest of us are informed?

Posted by: mikejz

Well I ordered on the 26th from their ebay auction. I live in the same state (FL) as RPI so I would get the cable the next day they ship it. I have not heard anything from them this whole week. I emailed them twice and ever got a responce. today I noticed that they are no longer registered on ebay, so I filed a report with paypal to get my money back.

Posted by: holee

I placed an order on 12/28. One automated responses right afterwards and nothing since.

I've emailed and and called, but have not found a live person yet.

This was via their website. Has anyone placed an order on their website recently and received an order?

Posted by: matt7184

Have the same ebay letter problem from the 1xexpress people selling the RPI cable. Left TWO phone messages at RPI's machine yesterday and today and also one email. They are supposed to be open but no answer. Anyone know if they went out of business or something? My money was sent and received via paypal, yet if I dont get a response tonite I will take further action.

Posted by: beakmyn

I think they've gone belly-up. I called the 800 number and I was the first in the queue for every department but no-one is answering calls or emails.

I opened a complaint with Paypal they said that they (paypal) will contact me if the seller doesn't respond. If there is no repsonse after 10 days they will close the sellers account and refund my money. We'll see how it goes. There is one other seller of the cable on ebay but I'm going to wait till this plays itself out before I buy again.

Posted by: eastcoastskiier

I ordered my VX6000 recharging cable via RPI Wireless's website around December 20th or so. I received the cable about 2 days ago (Jan 2nd - Jan 3rd) Just adding my two cents about this topic.

I had the same experience when I called last week. Every department said I was first in queue. And of course I kept going into voicemail.

Fortunately I placed my order with my AmEx, so it's easy enough to dispute. I'll give them up to one more week and that's it.

Posted by: mastermind278

I ordered the cable too, via Post Office Money Order. I have emailed and call them and have not gotten any response. I sent the payment on Dec. 23. Anyone care to give me some light on the situation? What should I do?

Posted by: flexia

contact MikeBuzzsaw here in the forums he knows the guy.

Posted by: flipzmode

i ordered mine on like dec 23 from ebay, paid with paypal, and received it by the 26 up in ohio.

I ordered the VX6000 cable on December 26th on ebay from RPI wireless. I recieved the usual confirmations but haven't heard from them since. I have sent several emails and called many times, just to be disconnected. One time, however, I did get through and spoke to somebody. They said that they will be shipping them out on Monday (today, 1/5/04) and I will get an email when it is shipped. I also asked them to confirm this many times. I have also noticed that the company that i got this from (1xexpresswireless) closed their eBay account right after this all started. It says that the seller is "no longer registered".
I have no idea how to get through to them again and cancel my order or at least get all my money back. I intended this to be a gift to somebody that is already wayyyy overdue. This is not acceptable. If somebody has any insight on this please email me at ruskirhino@hotmail.com and/or post it in this forum.

Thank you

I was worried at first when I got the email from Ebay about the suspension but with a few days I got an email saying it was shipped and I received it today and it seems to work great.

Just to let people know that I was in the same boat but everything worked out without me having to do anything.

I tried the coupon too and it doesn't work.

I tried to buy the LG VX6000 Charging data cable from rpiwireless on ebay but I want to pay by credit card. The ebay checkout tells me to contact them direct.

I have tried email, voicemail, live support but every way of contacting them doesn't get a response. Maybe they should change their name to RIPwireless.

Problem is, they seem to be only one selling the charging data cable for the vx6000. If someone could tell me where else I can get this cable, I would do so in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with a cable hooked between my battery and my computer's power supply unless I knew the circuitry involved to ensure a proper charge rate as well as intelligence to ensure battery won't be overcharged, see too high a voltage, etc. etc.

So, what are the spec's for this RPI cable? anyone know??

Regards, Bill

Good point - I never thought of that. What would be the consequence of overcharging? I guess probably fry the battery?

Does anyone know if the cable that verizon wireless sells in the "mobile office kit" is a charging cable? They don't specifiy.

But it sure would be convenient if you don't have to disconnect from the Internet because your battery never goes flat.

Overcharging degrades battery life. Note I said OVERCHARGING. Some chargers are intelligent - and chargers, like us humans, can run the gammut from very smart to downright stupid!

Smart chargers have circuitry which monitors a battery as it charges - including the battery's voltage as charging begins, the chargers own voltage, and the temperature inside the battery pack during charging, etc. etc. So when the monitoring circuitry says the battery has reached a full charge, it transitions from battery charging to a battery maintenence mode, aka "trickle charging" which is typically safe for extended periods with certain battery chemistries.

On the other hand, "stupid" chargers never know when enough is enough and degradation often results. Sometimes stupid chargers must rely on the user to keep the device (cell phone) powered-up and in use such that as energy is flowing from the charger into the battery, almost the same amount of energy is being consumed by the appliance (cell phone in this case) - hence a reasonable balance is struck. Does that happen with this cable? I don't know, what do the specs say?? If it does, low-end batteries are typically $25 US, so maybe the convenience of the cable vs. shortened battery life is acceptable to you.

Regards, Bill

I received my charging cable from RPIWireless yesterday with no problems. I ordered it just after Christmas.

My wife received her cable for the A530 as well.

Thanks Robert!

Posted by: mrblufeel

Robert,
Thank you for the post!

As for charging your battery with our cable. The cable does charge in a regulated fashion. A crude way to check this would be to feel the connector at the phone end of the data cable. When you first connect the cable and your battery is low, it will feel a bit warm then it will cool as the charging state reaches about 90 percent. The battery charging will then go into a trickle charge state and normal ware on your batter (as if using your travle charger) will happen. I would recoment only charging your phone when it needs it. You will get about a thousand charging cycles out of the battery, typically speaking. That's about it.

Got my cable last week and it works great! In fact I'm recommending you guys at alt.cellular.verizon

BTW bitpim 7-test 1 is out. There's now an option to import contacts from Outlook Express. Follow the install instructions and all is well.

Posted by: mikejz

I got the cable also, It works fine--however It does seem to drain my laptop battery faster then normal.

I still feel riped off, I bought the cable for $40, and as soon as I placed my order they droped the price to $30. On top of that I had to pay $5 shipping to send back another cable I ordered from another company after I had thought RPI had gone under. I emailed them requesting a refund, however I never got a responce.

I'm having problems with my cable...it was working fine for about a week and then when I went to use it again as soon as bitpim connected to the phone my computer locked up and i had to hard reboot. a reformat didnt fix this problem either, does any one have any suggestions for me to try?

I have yet to receive my cable from RPI Wireless yet. I ordered the cable online on Jan 9th, and received emails confirming this. I then received an email on Jan 14th stating that the order was complete. Today is 6 business days later and I have not received the cable yet. I have checked on their website to confirm that the order status was indeed complete. Granted, I am located in Canada, but I do not see customs holding the cable for any reason. Has anyone else ordered a cable and seeing long shipping times? I hope I'm not jumping the gun on this one.. I have a feeling it will come in the mail tomorrow..

Posted by: Kardnl1

You will have to wait until you get a confirmation email that says that is has been shipped. The email will contain the shipping tracking number so that you can track to see where your cable is in the country. If you have not received that email yet, then your cable has not been shipped.

Posted by: sterdeus

Thats bad news. 2 weeks after I initially ordered it, they have not shipped it yet?? There was no indicator that it was out of stock.. I wonder what the hold up could be. Also, on their website under Order History, they only list an order status as: "Status codes: I - Not finished, Q - Queued, P - Processed, B - Backordered, D - Declined, F - Failed, C - Complete."
There is no status for Shipped.

Posted by: mauibay

I ordered a VX6000 cable from RPI, along with a leather case. I received the cable in about 10 days, but no leather case although both were on the packing slip/invoice.

I emailed RPI 3 times with my order information. I called the phone number and left messages. So far the live chat on the website has never been active when I've checked.

I'm currently disputing the charge for the leather case with my bank, since I've heard absolutely nothing from RPI and have made considerable attempts to resolve this.

YMMV.

Posted by: matt7184

Had to deal with them and they never once returned my calls and this was when they decided to wait to ship out the cables and got suspended off ebay (yes i called when he said he was back and left numerous messages) and thankfully a day or two later i get an email saying it's shipped (like 2 weeks after i order it ) and I was out of the town I was in, so to add more hassle i had to have it reshipped from where it was being sent to where I am.

Good Product, Poor Service...

Posted by: bbm

cheaper price and shipping here. and it seems to be the exact same cable rpi is selling according to the descriptions given by people who received it in this thread

Posted by: sfverizon

Did RPI recently raise the ? VX6000 prices

$29.95 for Future-dial and $39.99 for charging cable. Man, shoulda ordered earlier!

Posted by: Autotech

I just got off of the phone with RPI and I found out that they will not have any VX6000 cables until about Feb. 9. They told me that the last shipment was sent back to China because of too many defects. Has anybody else heard this yet?

Posted by: sterdeus

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Bitpim locks my XP computer up using RPI/Tangshop cable.

I downloaded the USB drivers from RPI wireless. The drivers grabbed COM ports 3 and 4; 3 is a "modem", and 4 is "diagnostics". Bitpim ver7 test 2 crashes my XP computer every time. I tried setting Bitpim to COM 3 then 4, crashes both ports.

Either the USB drivers are bad, maybe they're not for XP, or Bitpim ver 7.2 is bad, or I am not setting phone up right. I set the phone, under Settings->1x data-> RS-232 and speed 115200.

Funny, my phone keeps changing back to USB or "closed"; it doesn't seem to like RS-232.

Uninstall everything, including your USB drivers. Install the drivers from www.futuredial.com instead of the RPI supplied driver.

Make sure all of the Bitpim folders are gone from your computer. Then reinstall Bitpim .62, the cracked version for the VX6.

Hopefully that should work. I had problems with my RPI driver not working with Bitpim correctly so I used the futuredial one instead.

I have XP as well and have had no problems since then.

Posted by: mrblufeel

Hey guys.
Depending on what cable your trying to use, the futuredial drivers will work. If you purchased our LG VX6000 Charging USB Data Cable then you will need to use our Drivers. If you purchased our Non-charging data cable, you will need to use the futuredial Driver installation program. We do not Manufacture the Non-charging cables, we resell them for either Futuredial or Susteen as well as OEM Manufactures. If you like, give us a call at the phone number below and we will walk you through the setup.

I ordered my LG 5450 "Charging cable" on 1/21/04. I see that on 1/26/04, my credit card has been charged, but the "Order History" dosen't show it "shipped" yet. According to Master Card rules, you can not charge my card until the item is shipped.

Is my item on the way? According to the web site, items are shipped on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If I ordered on Monday, why wasn't it shippped on Wednesday?

Perhaps, you don't make this cable and are waiting for your supplier to supply you with one and ship when it is convient for you.

Robert, please respond!

Posted by: CoachJJJ

I have had the same experience. I emailed shipping at RPI and got this response:

"
Your order of the VX 6000{5450} cable is being delayed.
My last Shipment from China had a defect ratio that was unaccaptable.
I returned them.
Normally, we can turn an order around in a week,
but due to the Chinese new year it is going to take a little longer,
as the whole country appears to be shut down.
I expect to resume shipping your product by February 9th.
Please keep your eye on the website for updates.
"

I have also received a follow-up email clarifying that there is no information about this on there website.

It stinks, but I hope it helps.

I have tried sending email, calling.. no one has replied either. What kind of BS is that? This place is a scam, I just sent a email asking to canel my order. Its nice having a brother working for the FBI internet fraud division if this gets nasty.

Posted by: CoachJJJ

Actually I did get very quick responses from them both times I emailed(<30min. each). Unfortunately the news wasn't what I hoped for.

Posted by: redban

Was your's the powered USB cable or just the data cable?

Posted by: CoachJJJ

I ordered the LG VX 5450 USB Cellular Phone Data Cable. SKU8166.

Posted by: twoods

I got the same line as the guy above about the chines new year and defective cables. I ordered on 1/17 and they hit the credit card on the same day. No cable yet. Waitting to see what happens.

Posted by: redban

this company is either out of business or not answering their phones and emails.. I have been on hold for 1 hour, "your are #1 in que"!!!

This is such BS.

TTT for Robert , owner of RPIwireless.

Posted by: twoods

It's good to be number one, except this time. It's like a one man show I think. I got an email that says my order is complete, I haven't recived what I've ordered. I'll give them to the 9th. Then I'll make a claim aginst them with the credit card company, BBB and all that.

Posted by: bbm

should've bought it at tangshop. exact same cable for a cheaper price, plus they don't rip you off on shipping. get it here http://www.tangshop.com/lg-vx-6000-data-cable-usb.html

Well, did you get it? No e-mail to me yet. I even sent an e-mail to RPIWireless and didn't get a reply.

Edit: Just got an e-mail saying my order was complete, but no tracking number. Went to their web site and no tracking number there either.

Posted by: redban

Nope.. I called, and they said they recieved the wrong cables (last time the cables were damaged)..I told them to cancel my order, they then magically had 2 cables and told me they were sending one out today.. Im guessing they are going to send me the wrong cable, a damaged cable, or they just said they shipped it out.

Maybe they are getting them from the place that sells them for $19.95

Posted by: GPz1100

Tangshop seems to be a joke too.. No one answers their phones or emails.. In fact, one phoen # registered in newyork (a cell #?), yet their fax and site registration is in canada.

I ordered on the 25th of january, they emailed me a DC # on the 27, yet as of today no cable no emails, no nothing.

The DC # shows no acecptance scans or anything... it just shows that a # was generated (which means nothing).

Is there a non international contact # for these jokers?

Posted by: bbm

someone in another thread who bought this cable also posted this .....

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your order.

We are very sorry the "R-USB-DC-VX-6000" data cable you ordered is
temporarily out of stock.
We will have this data cable by Feb 4th, 2004.
We will send your order to you as soon as we have the data cable back in
stock.
And we will upgrade the shipping from 'Standard' to 'Priority Mail' for
free.
You should be able to receive the cable by the end of the week.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Very Truly Yours,
www.TangShop.com

bbm,

I read that post too.

Here's the issue. They've already emailed me a DC # on the 27th. In addition in that email they said they shipped it as well (on the 27th).

SO..... at this point, I've contact my CC to dispute the charge, and should the package arrive, it will be marked return to sender. Further, I've already ordered it elsewhere.

I really have no problem waiting if its BO'd, but I expect the merchant to communicate this to me. I don't even care if they're running this out of their basement, but again, communications is a must.

Posted by: redban

I agree..communication is all I need, not lies, and BS. They need to have a eta on their website, since it says nothing about it being out of stock. Charging the CC before it ships is also very wrong.

Posted by: SeventyFive

I ordered my cable on 1/15/04 and got billed the same day; however, I haven't heard a single freakin word about what's going on with my order. After 3 weeks it finally says "order completed." What does that mean? Has it shipped? If it shipped, what's my tracking #?

These guys totally suck. I would never do business with them again. In fact, the only reason I registered is to voice my opinion and hopefully save 1 more person from these scam artists. They charge your card saying it's in stock and will ship and then leave you hanging until they feel like sending out a cable over a month later.

One more thing, good luck getting in contact with them by phone. I waited on hold for almost an hour before I just hung up in disgust.

Posted by: GPz1100

Just so we're all on the same page, when referring to them/they, we're talking about TANGSHOP.COM right?

My experience a few posts up is in reference to tangshop.com. For those that left replies recently, you may want to clarify who your experience is with if NOT tangshop.com

Thanks!

Posted by: SeventyFive

Robert, your company is terrible. I ordered my data cable over 4 weeks ago and still no word what is going on. Thanks for charging my credit card the day I placed my order, that's very professional of you. Go ahead and ship out my order whenever it's convenient for you, I don't mind that you lied to me and said you had them in stock when really you didn't.

For those of you who need a cable, I would buy it from anywhere BUT RPI wireless.

Posted by: Sparkhead

I ordered my cable from TangShop as well, just got it today.

I had ordered it on the 27th, got an email on the 28th telling me it was out of stock and offering to cancel the order. I told them I'd wait, but asked for a discount.

They said no discount, but they'd ship free of charge, it should go out Feb 2. It didn't.

I send them a note on the 3rd, they responded fairly quickly, apologized, and said when it went out it would go out priority shipping, still free of charge.

I got it today. Plugged it in, fired up bitpim, seems to be working fine. If anything goes wrong I'll report it here.

So for $19.95 and a little waiting, I have a charging data cable. Could the experience have went smoother? Certainly. Was it as bad as the RPI horror stories I've heard? Nope.

Maybe they treated me ok because they knew I was going to rate them via the Yahoo feedback form. I will give them a decent rating.

I had emailed RPI a while back and have yet to hear from them, which is why I looked to TangShop.com in the first place.

It's not only unprofessional, it's illegal. A company cannot charge until the product is shipped.

MY Lg 6000 data cable ended up costing me over $75 because of the whole mess with RPI.

I agree with the statments before--as an ebay seller myself, your buiness practices are some of the worst that I have seen.

I ordered my USB data cable for VX6000 on Feb,3(Tue) from Tangshop for $19.95 + $3.99. Got a email that it shipped on 5th with USPS Tracking number.

I Checked the tracking number on 7th(Sat) AM at USPS site and it said they have received the electronic record, but not the package. I go to the mailbox and Surprise, the cable is there.

The cable does not look like the picture on their site. It has a little dongle in the middle. I thought it may not be true USB. But It turned out to be true USB cable. The phone port setting is still at USB and I was able to connect.

I loaded the drivers from Futuredial's website and loaded BitPim 0.7 on Win2000. When I connected it, I had to tell it where the drivers are on my HD, but then it updated the drivers from Windows Update.

Loaded bitpim and downloaded all the pictures I took. Connected to the internet first using QNC. Worked but a little slow. Then connected to the Internet with EN. Got speeds of 70kb. It is great.

We notified all of our customers of a defective cable that had been shipped out, and of a recall. If in fact you had purchased a cable you would have received this email. If not then you are just bashing our company. We (in the email) did apologize and explained in the email what our situation was. This all I will say at this point. We have honest practices and continue to lead in Cellular phone data products sales. If you have issues with an order placed then you will need to contact us at the phone numbers and email addresses listed on our site www.rpiwireless.com. Not sure what else to say here, most of the people bashing RPI are either from Tangshop.com or other eBay sellers. To you, I say good luck with your business. If that is the only way to make a sale then your business will not last very long.

Yes, I am an ebay seller--but not Data Cables. I deal in home theater equipment.

With all due respect, despite sending your company over 6 emails and calling alteast 10 times I never once got a responce.

I understand having issues, however how you delt with these problems leaves much to be desired.

The simply rule: You don't sell inventory that you don't have and you don't take orders in faster then you can process them.

Hi. We are in business and we did send out an email in regards to a defect we had with about 500 cables. We have sent out recall data to all customers who purchased the cables. If you have not receved this email then your cable was not listed in our recall. We did in fact, send out emails letting customers know that thier orders would be delayed because of the recall. We do and did apologize for this inconvenience in our posts as well as the email. If you in fact did purchase a cable from us then you would have received this email. We are still waiting for the new shippment to arrive and expect them in, early next week (about three days). We are including a free travle charger with the order plus this coupon code RPIRECALL , good for a 10.00 off discount on anything on our site. I do apologize, and most people are correct when stating we are a "1 mand band" as there is only 4 of us, my self being the owner. Again I apologize for any and all inconveniences this has caused and will continue to cause. Further more, I am including all of our contact information belowe as well as my personal cell phone. I would suggest using the phone if you would like a faster, more personal response. Thank you all for your support and understanding.

After the numerous complaints listed here from many different people, and the negative feeback incidents on eBay, it couldn't be that people are genuinely upset with your poor service. It's that the competition is out to slander you.

Wow. That is lame.

I ordered my cable when it was $40, It took almost a month to ship, and by that time you had lowered your price by $10. How about a refund of the difference?

Posted by: redban

Just wanted you to know, I never recieved ANY email from you guys, just the automatic "thank you for your order" email.

Posted by: GPz1100

The cable from tangshop.com came this afternoon.

Unfortunately, since I had already ordered it elsewhere, i told the postman to return it to sender.

Had tangshop communicated to me that they shipped it late, or even bothered to return my emails/phone calls this would not have happened.

In any event, it's nice for the folks from RPI to at least mention something in here rather than be completely AWAL..

It's good that you're offereing an apology to the people who were affected by the recall. But what about the other people who had not ordered that specific cable? I was one who did not receive my cable in a timely manor, and had emailed RPI regarding its shipment status. I did not hear a response back. I haev seen multiple posts here regarding people trying to contact RPI and have never received a response back. There is something called customer service.. and not replying to emails and phone calls is very poor customer service. At the company I work for, every since voice mail left and emails sent is accounted for and is replied to. I can only assume that the email I had sent to RPI was either read and deleted, or deleted right away. I can only hope that RPI will learn from its mistakes.

You have a ebay listing that started on the 2nd of this month (10 day listing, charging vx6000 data cable). From what I read you had problems before the 2nd. I don't know if it's corrected.

I purchased one from you over the weekend. Didn't see any notice of the product being recalled in the listing or receive an email stating that. Didn't receive a tracking # today either.

I called once, had to wait too long. Sent an email, got a response two days later. Was just a general question. Didn't see this until now. Don't feel like waiting another 2 days for a response or have time to keep calling.

Since you posted in this topic at least twice today I'll just post my question here.

Do you have the charging VX6000 data cable that you are selling on ebay in stock or not?

Posted by: redban

How about a tracking number..?

Posted by: ekb18c

Same thign here. I order it the data cable on 1/27/03 and today I haven't been able to contact them via phone or email. They aren't responding. www.rpiwireless.com blows!!!

Posted by: ekb18c

Rpiwireless blows!! Customer service sucks major balls. They never pick up the phone, never respond back to emails, never return calls and never there on the online customer support. I order a non power data cable for the vx6000 back on 1/27/04 and as of today (2/10/04), I don't have the cable. I tried calling numerous times via 888-478-0685 and they never pick up the phone. I have emailed them many times with no real response. All they said was to call in. HA! I will never buy anything from rpiwireless ever again!!! I want my refund if you happend to see this post mrblufeel..................

Posted by: Sparkhead

I'm not certain why anyone would buy from RPI wireless.

The charging USB cable is available cheaper at TangShop ($20)- http://www.tangshop.com/lg-vx-6000-data-cable-usb.html - and the data cable is available cheaper at CellularAccessories ($20)- http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cellula...gvx6000usb.html and Tangshop ($17)- http://www.tangshop.com/lg-5350-vx4...data-cable.html

People have reported some problems with TangShop, my experience with them was just ok, not great but they did keep me updated, and CA has been around for a while as far as I know.

TangShop is east coast, CA is west coast, so if shipping time is a question pick one closer to you. They're both Yahoo merchants which means they're rated through the Yahoo system, which I think is a good thing. I suspect it might be why I got better service from TangShop than some others reported.

Aslo use our correct phone number 888-784-0685 it seems the ××× above has been trying to contact us at the wrong number. I see you missed or avoided the question so i'll ask it again...

Do you have the charging VX6000 data cable that you are selling on ebay in stock or not?

I and most other people understand that this isn't your place of business, but being that it's easier to get through to the radio station then your company and your staff never respond to emails in a timely manner this seems like the option. Especially when you respond here more than you do to paid customers who emailed you (going on two days again and no response yet you have the time to post here).

Before I was trying not to jump to any conclusions until I got a response from your company, but being that the response has yet to come I guess what's said is true.

If I don't receive either notification that my order has shipped by friday or a refund ll be contacting ebay and paypal. It's ridiculous. Sad thing is the auction is still going so more and more people are going to have to face the same problem

Posted by: mrblufeel

You will have to reach us on our site www.rpiwireless.com we have a live support program running all the time.

Posted by: mcb56

I have a tracking number, but USPS doesn't recognize it other than to say that the supplier has sent data that it is to be shipped.

I have never had this poor of customer relations with anything I have ever bought over the internet.

Clean up your act Robert RPIWireless or you will never get customer referrals from this site..

Posted by: GPz1100

USPS delivery confirmation is just that... delivery confirmation.

It is not a tracking #. (though sometimes there are scans as it passes thru various processing centers...)

Posted by: mcb56

Then why does RPI have a tracking number window? Their web site sez one will be provided when the item ships.

Posted by: Mikenificent

This will probably be my last post in this topic unless I give an update later. This is going nowhere.

I find it funny (not really) how you can't state a single word "Yes" or "No." Seems like a simple question to me being that you can't answer my emails but have time to post here.

I already stated what i'll be doing in two days if I don't get a shipping confirmation / tracking #. No need to continue this. Worse service i'll seen since hostpacket.net(before they flopped)......

Posted by: mcb56

RPIWireless confirms my reluctance to use Ebay. There are a lot of scam artists out there. Maybe RPI means Rip People Intentionally.

Sevral years ago, I ordered a car charger from another company. They claimed that the one I ordered was not in stock and tried to charge me for an O.E.M. one. I called "bait and switch" and they agreed to send me the O.E.M. one for the same price. When I got it, it was the off-shore one. Asshats....

I'd better get a working charging cable from RPI or the ***** will hit the fan.

Oh..., and from what I have read, I should get a car charger free for the inconvience.....

Robert...?????/

Posted by: mrblufeel

"Shitwill hit the fan!" give me a brake. I am not worried in the least bit about what shitwill hit the fan, from "you". Not in the least way!

We apologized, we sent out emails, we sent out free coupons, we agreed to send out a free car charger, we have responded to emails, phone calls and live support due to a defect in a product that has sold thousands since we brought it to the market. If you would like a defective cable deliverd to your door, just say the word.

I have mentioned in the past "this is not our place of business and we will not conduct business in this forum", so if you would like any professional responce to any questions you have, then please go to our web site www.rpiwireless.com, call us 888-784-0685 or email us at any of our dozen email addresses listed in our contact us section or support sections of our site.

"Shitwill hit the fan!" give me a brake. you want to act like a 4 year old in a public forum, this is the reaction you will get from "ME" every time.

Not sure if you read your email that was recieved with your delivery confirmation number. It defined what a "delivery confirmation number" was.. I would suggest you get out your WMD and use it to read through the email.

Good Day to you, sir!

It will always say " you are the first caller in the que" or "All our reps are currently busy, please leave a msg." I have waited in the que for over 10 mins at a time.

I can't read every single post in this entire thread but from what I have read it seems clear that people are having problems with RPI wireless.

Robert, I'm not sure I understand your refusal to respond to customers via this forum but that's your prerogative as the owner of the company. Either way it does seem obvious that people are having trouble getting accurate information from your web site. Why not respond to them here? I'm sure you are savvy enough to recognize the power this forum can provide you in the way of a customer base. If not, that's fine too, it's your choice, you do own the company.

I suggest everyone here remember the old cliché, "buyer beware." Read the posts here and make your choice. Buy from them or don't. But I will no longer tolerate this back and forth bickering between RPI and the members of the forum. If it continues not only will I permanently close this thread but I'll have to start banning people too.

If you choose to post in this thread make it about specific reference to your experience positive or negative when ordering from this company. Do it in a professional manner, in such a way that it helps people make an educated buying decision.

Thanks.

Personally, he doesn't and should not run his business through howardforums.
One thing to note, I purchased a VX6000 charging data cable from him in late december. It took 10 days.
I think its unfair to expect RPI Wireless to respond to professional inquries here. If they do, thats great but otherwise don't slam them for not personally responding to every post about all these issues. They have communication diffficulties it seems but its only a couple of people in the company from what they said.

Mrblufeel,

I believe lgreenberg clearly articulates his issues with you and the problems others have experienced with RPI. I for one have read many of the posts that have given you and RPI less than stellar marks as well as some of those giving you props. I'm not surprised you still don't understand what lgreenberg's message states. It seems from the quoted message above that you welcome lgreenberg to contact you in the many ways that others have tried to NO AVAIL (sorry for shouting); that's one of the issues.

Perhaps you should lay low on the posts and let the users find their way to your site instead of trolling the forums. The forums should be vendor-neutral and not biased. Maybe the moderators could create a sandbox (forum) just for vendors to communicate with their current/future customers and not hawk their goods.

Net-net, I personally decided to purchase my data cable elsewhere, sorry mrblufeel.

Just my 2 cents,

RPI Experience & Comments _
I have read all the posts within this tread as well as other threads discussing RPI. My interest in RPI began late December 2003 immediately after purchasing several VX6000 phones.

I would like to point out I am uncomfortable with internet purchasing unless I am able to reach the company via telephone, and much prefer placing my order by telephone.

Numerous telephone calls to RPI NEVER got a living, breathing, person on the telephone. In fact, if not for HoFo, I would never have learned the phone numbers posted on the RPI web site were mixed up. I would dial and hear "leave your number". I DID leave my number but NEVER received a return call - and all my phone systems track incoming calls.

Several attempts later using different phone number I heard a recorded message saying: "we will return on Monday" - guess what? I was calling on Monday. I called several times on Monday and got same message. I left a message saying "ahhh, today IS Monday!"

I blew off RPI as a merchant not for me and I called two other suppliers and purchased several hundred dollars worth of goods from them. They gained, and due to RPI's failure to accurately communicate - web phone number issue, poor message (leave a number), and a Monday message saying they would return on Monday - RPI lost a couple hundred bucks of business.

My perception of RPI is they lack polished business accumen. Some of their failings as voiced by individuals on this thread (and other threads) are similar to what I mention below.

Merchant Business Practices -
Today not many merchants can afford (for long) to SELF-destroy their business. Accurate, timely information is of essence as is the ability to DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU WILL DO! ...

If you post information on your web site, IT BEST BE ACCURATE.
If you say "call us" and post phone numbers, you BEST ANSWER OR RETURN CALLS IN A TIMELY FASHION.
If you post live chat service, IT BETTER BE LIVE EITHER DURING POSTED TIMES OR BE LIVE MORE THAN DEAD!

Merchants - SAY WHAT YOU DO, AND DO WHAT YOU SAY!!

If something goes awry, COMMUNICATE - immediately!

Trying to buy back customers you have failed in some way is nice, but that takes work... and money. Working harder up front to prevent this can save increased efforts and loss of revenue after the fact.

If your stock is depleted - get the info. out right away! If your stock becomes tainted, is called-back, returned due to defects, etc. STOP taking orders and get the reason published ASAP.

BE UP FRONT!

Now the following is from a business man (me) who sells products (THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH TELEPHONES) w/ ads in magazines, by website, trade shows, etc. and whose business accepts orders by email, fax, telephone, online etc. As a MasterCard, Visa, and AmEx merchant (BTW, NOT PayPal) who can accept credit card orders by all of the above means, I will say this - each issuing card company has their own rules, and the rules can and do vary. Merchants who are able to accept credit cards without resorting to PayPal or other broker services are regarded by the credit card issuers as having earned the banks trust. Being allowed to accept credit card orders via telephone is actually quite a privilege for a merchant. HAVING to use PayPal may be an indicator of a merchant's weak business strength as the merchant may not have the requisite financial strength to become a credit card accepting merchant.

Should you as a customer feel the practices of a card accepting merchant to be deceptive, less than honorable, etc. I will tell you the issuing companies would like to hear from you and in particular of grievances for charges made for never delivered product, INABILITY to contact and discuss your grievance with the business you purchased product or services from, etc.

Always document each and every attempt to contact as well as methods used etc. This is to your advantage in demonstrating your attempt(s) to reach reconciliation. Be sure to get the name of the individual(s) you spoke with, emailed with, or with whom you attempted to communicate. Save all forms of communication - emails, letters, etc. Never be reluctant to escalate the issue up the merchant's ladder!

If you cannot reach an internet dealer by phone, you obviously must understand that if a problem develops, who ya gonna call? Ghost Busters?

It's all too easy as a customer to be careful when deciding who to do your business with - you have the power to choose. Remember - EVERY merchant is trying to separate you from your money. Some are better at it than others, and some do it HOWEVER they can.

YOU ARE ALWAYS DOING THE MERCHANT A FAVOR - remember this. It is YOUR money, and they want it.

Be weary of the deals too good to be true, have the guts to ask all the questions you want WHILE your money is STILL in your hand, and check the background on a merchant. Get references.

This forum CAN and DOES help!! Thank you for this!!!

Regards, Bill.

Amen Brother Bill... Lots of good stuff in your last post!

Sure hope Mr. Valentine at RPI heeds your valuable suggestions and could somehow salvage the unfortunate position he has put his company in. Markets are tough and shoppers have more options today, hate to see companies fail because they got lazy.

You guys are all freaking out a bit..

The cable is fine, good quality..they just suck at customer service and this cable had a backorder from their supplier..

Supply and demand...

and *****tttty customer service.

Im happy with my purchase now that I have it, but RPIwireless could use a partime customer service rep.

I would like to have some sort of communcation with you or anyone from your company however I never got one response back. I tried to call your company several times! I even left messages several times. I even emailed you several times.

NOT once did I get a response back.

Posted by: Mikenificent

Just to give an update about rpiwireless. My usb cable came and is in the condition as described (charged vx6000 usb).

I had a complaint about no responses in my other post (not sure where it is).

I ordered it last saturday, got it this saturday. Not so bad.

Still would've liked a response to my emails but overall it turned out good

Posted by: mcb56

No replies to my e-mails, phone calls, on hold for 20 minutes being No. 1 in que.

I ordered my cable 1/26/04. I finally got this.

"Thank you for your purchase. Your item was shipped on 02/09/2004 via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail to the following address:"

Today is Monday 2/16, and still no cable. How long does Priority Mail take?

Posted by: Behemoth69

Question for you guys that ordered a cable from RPI: while i wait for a response from my email. After getting an email saying the order was completed? (Status changed to c on their website) Did you get another email saying it had been shipped, or was that the final one?

Posted by: mcb56

See my last post above, at the bottom of page 10.

Posted by: Behemoth69

But did you receive an email before that saying your order had been completed?

Posted by: mcb56

I got seperate confirmations when my order was Processed, Completed, and Shipped.

Posted by: Autotech

Well I finally received my charging cable form RPI. They didn't send the car charger with it though like they said they would in email they sent out. Has anybody else received their cable and chargers yet?

Posted by: mcb56

Still haven't gotten mine, but I called USPS and was told that Priority mail doesn't mean it will get to your destination any sooner than regular mail. She said it is for anything over 13 onces and usually takes 5-7 days. Mine was shipped on 2/9, so that is already 8 mailing days.

Still no reply from RPI. I E'd them to see what drivers I should use and asked for a tracking number.

That's nonsense. USPS priority takes 2-3 busines days tops (unless there extenuating conditions).

If it won't get there any sooner why are you paying 2-3x the price of parcel post..... Sounds like the person you talked to at USPS has no idea what PRIORITY mail is.

I ship alot via first class, parcel post, and priority for ebay sales, and priority has always gotten there within 2-3 business days.

Did RPI give you a delivery confirmation #?

Granted this isn't a tracking #, but can sometimes give you an idea where your package is if any of the processing centers scanned it.

sounds like have alot of experiance using usps. Ive never actually recieved anything though usps, since i live in canada do hopefully you can answer my question. I receieved a tracking number in which the first 2 letters were LZ. The rest of it follows the proper form of the tracking numbers on usps' website, but none of the numbers there start with lz. Is this not a tracking number? Is it something different?

I used the delivery number and USPS only said that a package would be delivered to them. I guess my last post never made it, but I did get it tonight. About a half hour later I got an e-mail from USPS showing it was delivered. There was nothing sent to me from USPS about where it was. When I called, she said it was supposed to be delivered to them on 2/9.

Still didn't get a car charger as promised in another e-mail to another poster. It may come later.

I emailed RPI and they responded (yes they replied!) that the car chargers are going to be shipped out in about a week or so.

Posted by: mcb56

I guess they think I am a prick and don't reply to me. Oh well, time will tell.

Posted by: Autotech

I must be the only lucky one on this fourm to get a hold of RPI (2 times!). I called to check the status of the cable and someone did answer the phone and then they also replied to my email! I don't know what's up with that?

Posted by: mcb56

Can't get my cable to work. Un-installed the drivers and let hardware manger look. Directed it to the Future drivers and it said is was sucessful, but it then locked up my puter when I opened Bitpim. Had to power off to get it back up.

What now. Need step by step insturctions.

Can't find the 911 driver post. Anybody save it?

Posted by: Autotech

From what I have read on these forums you don't want to use the Future drivers. Use the RPI drivers.

I don't know anything about the 911 driver post.

Posted by: mcb56

This is for an LG5450. what drivers do I use. I am so confused. Nothing seems to work.

Posted by: Fre

I feel for you. It amazes me how they stay in business when I read everywhere how badly they behave once they get your credit card number. Elsewhere I had to post this about my own experience with the foul Rpiwireless:

Whatever you do, avoid getting or trying to use the usb data cables from Rpiwireless. I got the Bitpim and usb cable in same package from seller RPIWIRELESS on Ebay and they are acting irresponsible! Has anyone else had troubles with this co.? I bought from them on Ebay. Seller called RPIWIRELESS out of Carbondale IL. Won auction 3075958980, received item, and now seller who in ad promised to always be available for help ("We never close") has not responded for support even after 8 voicemails and 6 emails. BAD MANNERED indeed. They also on voicemail 888 784 0685 have said We are open 11am to 11pm but no human ever answers! Go figure. I now want to return the item. The label on their software CD ripped off inside my computer causing more problems. Software supposedly Bitpim did not work, but on rpiwireless.com site they link to Bitpim for you to download it. Their usb not recognized by my computer which somehow, after installing their software, lost my PPC connection and digital camera connection! Can never recommend them except to say Stay Away! Please be warned. I am still chasing them.

There was a lot more I can say, like eight hours grappling with their cd software and uninstals and reinstals, crashes, restoring computer, etc. but don't want to add more terror to this.

Posted by: JohnO

I ordered my cable on 2/14 and received it today 2/20. No problems.

Posted by: mcb56

Have you gotten it to work yet? Still locks up my puter.

Posted by: Fre

Finally got a reply from RPIWIRELESS, typically unhelpful and demanding I back off. But only heard from him after I filed a few complaint. Mr. Valentine will become aware there are consumers who fight back with determination. Already filed with Ebay and Square Deal, and will do Paypal after my CC co. gets back to me. I intend to run Valentine down on this one. Will locate BBBs in all the cities and lodge complaints, as well as report to the few DAs. On my list too is FBI and other fed agencies and still researching this. The Postmaster will most definitely be interested and I will pay them a visit next week for procedure. And of course alert all the forums and chat rooms, including places like Epinions and other consumer review spots. When I finish rpi and Valentine and anyone else's name I can get at his co. will be known in quite a few places. When other consumers lodge complaints there will already be a growing history. Imagine - it will be much harder in near future for him to run any scams. It seems he esp does this to consumers he feels he can get away with it. So some people get their units and it works, while others do not get them or get defective ones, followed by promises to replace or provide discounts, setting you up for more troubles. Don't you just love it? After I compile a list of addesses/contacts I will post them here.

Just to keep you all updated, my situation with RPI is not resolved. Sending an email every day in a gentle tone to them and getting no reply. I figure I am one of 100's writing them with complaints. Every week I post at least a dozen messages to various US chatrooms of my complaint against RPI. EVery room having to do with phones, usb cables, verizon, ebay etc. Ebay has written me a few times about inquiries they received. So far only one from Verizon suggesting next time to buy their cable. Told Verizon theirs cost too much. Keep getting basic encouragement to resolve problem. Even if they cannot or will not do anything about it several dozen da's have a copy of my complaint as do eastern seabord bbb's and most consumer complaint orgs. However I get a letter/email saying they received it. Most of this on paper. Been a pleasure to chase these dastardly dudes! And I intend to keep at it a few more months at least. I am almost at the point I don't care if they refund me since I am having so much fun at this (yeah!).

Posted by: juanflaco

Oh man. Another nervous customer over here. I ordered a VX6000 charging cable from RPI's website and got an email stating my order had completed 3/12/04.

After trying to call them many times, I finally got through yesterday (3/24/04) and I was told they were out of stock. Supposedly more will be in on Monday (3/29/04).

This does seem like an odd way to conduct business, happily collecting money whether they have a product to sell or not.

I wonder if I should charge them for all these 25 cent wallpapers and ringtones I keep sending to my phone waiting for that daggone cable!

edit: Wow, their site doesn't indicate they're out of stock. I went through the whole oerdering process again to see if it would let me know at any point they don't actually posess the item I'm about to buy. Nothing.

Posted by: juanflaco

Anybody know anything about shipping methods?

My confirmation email says I paid $7.99 for USPS Priority Mail, but I just got a UPS tracking number and the thing is going to take a week to get here, via UPS ground. Wouldn't UPS ground be considerably cheaper than $7.99?

Should I ****** about paying for Priority mail and them using UPS? Not worth it, right?

I guess I wouldn't normally mind but I've already been waiting three weeks on this thing.

Posted by: mikewen

You can order from TangShop.com, much cheaper:
http://www.tangshop.com/lg-vx-6000-accessories.html

Posted by: juanflaco

Well, I already ordered this one and I don't want to go through the hassle of trying to get my money back now and ordering from somewhere else since it will be here tomorrow. Anyway, $29 was a good price when I ordered it. Has tangshop been selling those for $20 for quite a while? If so, I must have missed that.

My question was about shipping prices as $7.99 seems pretty expensive to ship a 1lb package across the US via turtle ground UPS, particularly because they told me (and it still says so on their website) that they use priority mail as their shipping method.

Posted by: purplehaze67

I ordered the charging cable from RPI in mid-December 2003. the phone number they provided for me to call with my credit card info was incorrect - all I ever got was a recording of a British-sounding woman saying "Please enter your telephone number".

I sent many emails asking for a phone number that I could use to actually speak to a live human so I could pay. Most went unanswered, but finally I got a message from Mr. Valentine with another number to use. By this time, it was probably the mid-January time frame.

I called that and got ahold of Mr. Valentine while he was in his car. I explained the situation, and told him I wanted to provide my credit card details, and asked if I should try him back later when he was maybe less distracted. He said that he was fine taking my info then and there. I gave it to him, and followed up with an email per his request.

Card charged. No product ever arrived. After a few more weeks, I called and talked to someone in shipping (Jason, IIRC). He had no record of an order for me. Great. A few more phone calls and emails went ignored, and regrettably I gave up. Just don't have the time or patience to chase a reluctant seller down. I guess they 'win' this one...

Just another in the long line of people who didn't get what they bargained for with RPI Wireless. Be very careful before you choose to do business with this seller.

Posted by: monkeyboy24

My problem isn't near as bad but they keep sending me an email to post positive feedback for my auction which went fine. I posted positive feedback for them and have asked them to do the same. I have sent 3 emails for them to post positive feedback and have gotten nothing. I have quit worring about it but it seems to have become the trend for some companies on ebay to beg for positive feedback and then once you do they blow yours off. Not a big deal but just pisses you off.

Basically I have a new policy for my ebay stuff now. I don't post feedback until I get mine first.

It sounds like RPI needs a business lesson from everything I have read hear. From my experience people want good customer service and if that is done with good communication people will usually deal with what ever bumps in the road there are.

Although I had a decent experience with them other than no feedback left I will probably stay away from them in the future with reading everyone elses stories.

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in with my experience with them.

Posted by: mjones73

My issue is I purchsed a cable via E-Bay on 1/31, paid for it within 24-48 via PayPal, received an e-mail on 2/4 stating that they had discovered that the batch of charging USB vx6000 cables they had were defective and my shipment would delayed but as a consolation they offered me a free car charger for waiting. I received my cable a few weeks later and it works fine but I never got the car charger and I keep getting e-mails asking me to leave them feedback yet I've got none from them. I replied to the first e-mail I received for feedback and I did get a response from Terry Wang asking me to contacts sales and they would send a charger out. I sent an e-mail on 3/22 to sales and I've yet to receive anything except more e-mails asking me to leave them feedback...

I can't complain about the product but their customer services is less then desirable.

It is illegal for any US company to charge your CC before a product ships. A call to you CC company might get them to stop this practice. They might even get fined.

I do not believe that is true - please cite the law that would make such practice illegal. Unless their terms of sale explicitly state that they do not charge your card until they ship your order then they have done nothing wrong.

Don't believe me!!! Call your CC company and get it straight from them. If you have a card or statement, there should be a customer service number on it.

I have called my CC company and they told me it wasnt illegal. You made the claim about it being illegal - please back it up with a cite to the law that makes it illegal.

If you meant that its a violation of the credit card company's contract with merchants then thats something different and would vary with different credit card companys. Illegal means against the law - all I'm asking if for a cite to the law in question.

Umm...no, not really. Most online shops worth anything use realtime credit card processing and charge your card when you "submit" your order. It is not in any way illegal.

Anyway, I just wanted to voice my extreme dissatisfaction with RPI. I bought a charging USB cable for my vx6000 off one of his ebay auctions. It took a while to get it, and when I finally did, the cable did not work. Emails and phonecalls to RPI went unanswered, so I filed a complaint with Paypal. Unfortunately, Paypal didn't do anything so I'm out $30.00 for a cable that will not work.

What problem am I having? I run Win XP, and for whatever reason, once I install the LG usb drivers then plug my phone it, my computer freezes within 5 seconds. Happens EVERY time. No other drivers work with this particular cable.

This problem is big enough for RPI to post about it on their website, unfortunately, what they say is utterly useless. It does not fix the problem, the computer still freezes up.

THere are PLENTY of better shops, forget RPI and take your business elsewhere. With so much competition, you'd expect a company to put a little more weight in customer service. Not RPI.

I got my charging cable from RPI. It does work but I have to unplug my USB printer to get it to work or it locks up my XP computer as well. I used the drivers from the alternate web site. Don't remember the site, but I let it do the the full install for my phone.

Posted by: WeBcYtE

I have the file LGUsbModemDriver.exe that I got off 1express, and I get the lockup problem.

Judging by what you said, it sounds like the phone has a conflict with some other USB device. I unplugged my printer and it still locks up. I have a bunch of other USB stuff, though. This sucks...but I'll be happy if I can finally connect to my phone.

Posted by: mcb56

For ***** and giggles, I tried mine again with the USB printer plugged in and it locked me up again. Had to do a power-off boot. When I have my printer unplugged it works fine.

Try disabling all your USB ports except for the phone. There should be three.

It really sucks that we can't get good drivers for a simple phone.

Go to the software section and find the link to get the FutureDial drivers that are recomended for your phone. After screwing with the other drivers these worked.

Ordered a cable for my cell phone from RPI Wireless on 12/19/04. I was hoping for a wonderful experience since this company seems to be the one that helps out BitPim with getting phones. I noticed their prices were higher but I decided to buy there to help out the company who was helping the community My credit card was charged immediately, however I have not received the cable, their shipping e-mail address is refusing messages, and their "online support" has never once shown up as "online". I am still open to a non-flaming resolution to this situation, but right now I am out $40 and quite upset with my experience. BEWARE of RPI Wireless.

RPI Wireless owner found dead

Saturday, January 22, 2005

CARBONDALE, IL— RPI Wireless owner Robert Valentine was found dead today – initial police reports say the cause of death was suicide. Police reported discovering Valentines headless corpse clutching a book of consumer complaints against his illegitimate company which sold cellular accessories. Carbondale police officials were quoted as saying “this was actually a good thing for society based on the number of people this scumbag ripped off” Phone calls made to the company mysteriously ended in being disconnected. Emails were also bounced back to the senders from Fox News.

This may be a fake death report by RPI Wireless just tiring to get out of being responsible. Its very strange there is no source for this news article. A quick Google News search came up with nothing and nothing was found at the local newspaper archive.

RPI Wireless, took me for $70.00 and even had DHL send me a shipment notification. When nothing showed up, DHL checked and reported it was a fake.
