Related to the battery life complaint that most people seem to have, I've found that I can maximize battery life if i turn down my illumination...

BUT.. the problem is that when i turn my illumination to 30 or 40%, the red keypad backlight is barely noticible.. not a problem during the day of course, but it is ugly and hard to see at night.

Does newer firmware 'uncouple' the two so that we can turn down LCD illumination to save battery, but not at the cost of having our beautiful red keypad go dim??
