I have heard that when you battery gets down to one bar you can type in *3770# to get a little extra charge to get you out of trouble. Apparently there is an in-built battery in the phone (in addition to the removable one). Is this true? Or is it oly on older nokias?

Why would Nokia put a "secret" battery in their device and not tell anyone about it?

*3370# turns on Enhanced Full Rate signal compression. It will marginally inprove audio quality of the phone but it will shorten battery life.

I suppose, if your battery was running low, that you could turn on half-rate compression which will consume less battery at the expense of quality (i.e., it's gonna sounds a little worse). That's *4720# (#4720# to turn it back off) but I don't know how much that's really going to buy you in the battery life department. Most rechargeable batteries have a very steep curve once they start to drain, so once you're at that point there's probably not a lot you can do about it.

Go buy one of those cellphone boosters they sell in the electronics stores - it's basically a 9-volt battery and the proper plug for your phone - and keep it handy.

The only solution to a dead battery is more power.

There is no secret built in battery. I know from experiance, because I have taken apart MANY phones including Nokia 6161, 5120, 5190, 5165, 7160, 3360, a Samsung S307, and some more models I can't remember right now. Trust me, there is no room for a battery in most modern phones anyway!
