new firmware on sanyo 4500?

My friend just got his 4500 serviced today, it came back and he started to setup his ringtones and noticed alot of them had changed!

So I looked at the version he was running and compared it to mine (same phones)

his is 3.0028sp
mine is 3.0024sp

Besides the new ringtones I didnt notice anything new with it but I only looked at it for 2 mins.

now how do I update my phone?
I tryed the *2 and *4 that I heard somewere, didnt do it.

So if anyone knows how to update and what else is new write back, tia.

You need to bring your handset to a local dealer and request for a "firmware" upgrade

yeah, I figured that one out as I hit send, now lets see how lazy I am to actually go there.

From what I know, the newest firmware for the 4500 is really no big difference than any of the previous ones, except for, as you mentioned, some added ringtones and perhaps some minor bug fixes.

Where would I go for this firmware upgrade? What kind of dealer would I go to? Like a Radio Shack or something like that? or do I call sprint? I've never heard of any of this before that's why I ask.

Goto a dealer that is the provider of your phone. For instance, if your carrier is Sprint, you'd goto a Sprint dealer
