Today I decided to take some time and make a handful of quality operator logos for the 3650~6600.

If your interested I bundled them up in a zip file and you can download it here. any requests can be made to the email found in the readme.txt

yeah, I'll add them to the next batch. You know I made all the ones in the zip from scratch and are all 96x25. I wonder if I should update them all to be 97x25?

Hey!

Can someone tell me how exactly to change the operator logo on my 3650. I just got this phone on sunday and am trying to figure out how to use it like a pro. I have FExplorer on my phone if that helps. And I have a USB infrared adapter for my computer.

Second question (not too related): Do bluetooth usb adapters from ebay send files from phone to computer AND from computer to phone?

Another unrelated question: Can you change the theme on a 3650?

Please let me know the answer to my 3 questions as soon as possible. Thanks!

1. Do a search on the board for changing op logo. You'll find the solution.

2. Not all bluetooth adapters send files (i.e. Microsoft BT adapter), Belkin and D-Link work well.

3. No the 3650 is not themeable out of the box. Perhaps someone has made a thirdparty utility (just guessing). That is a new feature in Symbian 7.0.

Hey,

I figured out how to change the op logo and all. I just have a problem. I read that you have to upload the logo and then use FExplorer to open it and set it. When I used my infrared to send it to my phone, it worked fine. It sent the image to the messages inbox. How do i access this folder from FExplorer. What is it under? Somebody please help me as soon as possible. Really appreciate it

it's actually better to use the Nokia 3650 PC Suite from the nokiausa.com website

what you should do is put the logo in the MMC card and have Fexplorer set it from there.

Do a search for the filename within FExploer using the search/find function. I don't use the "set as operator logo" option in FExplorer. Then move the file.

I put it in the folder C:\System\Apps\Phone\Oplogo\xxx_xxx_0.bmp

If the directory doesn't exist, then make it.

Thanks alot! I love using this fido operator logo now. I even got a picture of a viper uploaded to the phone to use as a background. Thanks alot. I didn't know that I had to save the image when it goes into the inbox...hehe

Hmm.. what I did was paste the op logo file on the MMC root with the N-Gage USB cable, then copy it to the phone memory (Images -> Backgrounds or somewhere) and just select "Set as operator logo" in FExplorer. No need for directory or filename tricks

You set it the same way you do any Series 60 device. Do a search on the stie on "Operator logo" and you will get multiple hits on how to change it.

You can host the file too if you want. I update it though and it would suck to have 2 different versions floating around.

hey,

i turned screenshot ON, and it told me to press "ABC" + "0" to capture. I trued pressing 2,2,2,0 when i was at standby but it didn't do anything. How am I exactly supposed to capture? Thanks again!

hey thanks!

I got the screenshot taken. I found it on my phone too. The only problem now is sending it. As usual, for some reason i can't send images and stuff from my phone to my pc. I was able to send ringtones and images from pc to phone yesterday. And I was able to send both ways with my old phone. Hmmmm....anyone know what the problem is? Im using my infrared adapter. Thanks, once again!

Hey,

Instead of using my tedious infrared adapter to transfer files, I was reminded that my new printer has memory card slots. I then took out my MMC card and popped it in...and VOILA, I can transfer files both ways sooooo easily. Thanks alot to everyone who helped me out during these hard times

. Well you wanted me to take a screenshot so here it is.

It ain't that advaced or special, but it's a start

any tips for getting an oplogo to work on a phone that doesn't have one? I got an unlocked 3620, and where the oplogo should be, it just has text, "T-Mobile". I created a C:\system\apps\phone\oplogo directory and put the t-mobile.bmp file in there, restarted the phone and nothing happened... also, FExplorer doesn't have an option under File to make a picture an oplogo...

ok wot u need to do is not name it t-mobile.bmp but name it to ur code (which u can find here http://www.wascho.com/7650-oplogo/ )

it shud be the format xxx_xx like for instance t-mobile UK is

234_30_0.bmp

I have T-Mo branded 3650 locked and I think I've tried every derivation of getting the op logo to appear. Does T-Mo disable that ability or am I doing something wrong.

this is what i have

c:/system/Apps/Phone/Oplogo/310_26.bmp

i tired it even with the 310_26_0.bmp combination.

My FeExplorer doesnt seem to have the set to op logo option.

Any help would be appreciated.

hmm very odd... maybe t-mob have disabled it, it might work if u get the latest version of FE explorer which has the 'change logo' function, or even try seleQ which also has the function? (pm me for details of getting a 'trial' version

i think u should try SeleQ..but it should work..both using the same OS...

Could you come up with one for Edge Wireless in the US, their Network Code is 310 90. They are currently an AT&T affiliate, but with the pending buyout by Cingular, will soon be a Cingular one.

I'm also having the same problem. However my phone also finds Cingular here, and that oplogo actually works; 310_410_0.bmp, so I know the 6620 phone does oplogos the same way. I guess there is something funky with the at&t network info.

Hmm I was just googling and I noticed that I believe 310-380 is AT&T 1900Mhz, and that there's probably another code for AT&T 850Mhz.

Well that one of the reasons I recommend SeleQ, because you don't have to figure out the MCC MNC of your carrier. But typically it's MCC_MNC_0.bmp Both your MCC and MNC should be 3 digits and located at C:\system\apps\phone\oplogo\

You'll have to reboot before it take effect.

Every carrier in the world has a code so it works no different in India than anywhere else.

Well read through the thread there are a few variations on the scheme which are dependent on your carrier.

i named the file:

402_02_0.bmp

instead of

An easy way to find out is to check out the celltrack available at my-symbian.com and other places.

Most of them are common and can find on the web using google images. What I do is search under google images and crop and change the image size to 95 x 25 in PS. Heres a few that I uploaded.

Anyone know what happens to yuor oplogo when u roam on another network? will it change to the boring text of that network? if so, is it just a matter of having a oplogo for the other provider?

On Series40 phones you can only store 1 oplogo per phone at any given time. On Series60 you can store as many oplogos as you have memory.

When you roam your oplogo just isn't displayed because the name doesn't match the network's MCC MNC. It's still there, so don't worry.

Ok, see if anyone can help with this one. My 6620 came from AT&T, operator logos work great on the phone as I have them for AT&T, Cingular, Cell One, Tmobile and got them working on FExplorer.
Here's what puzzles me. I unlocked the phone, popped my Tmobile sim in and it reverts back to the text logo, not the picture. So I tried resetting the oplogo thru FExplorer. The Phone rebooted and still no oplogo picture. Just text. But when I put my AT&T sim in, the oplogo pictures come back. Any clues? Thanks.

yeah, I wanted to know what's up with this also, I have a cingular sim on the Nokia 6620 and I've trid many time to change the oplogo on fexplorer and seleq but it always stay on text mode not picture. Any ways to get around this?

Sometimes when I power cycle my phone even though I have a working oplogo I get the system text. Rebooting again usually fixes that. Also you may need to do it a couple times. If you're one of those people that pick up 310-26 and 310 and another code.

What would happen since I have the Cingular logo that you guys made on my phone if I roamed onto lets say T-Mobile? Would it say I was roaming or would it stay w/this OP Logo?

My above post has a part of the new cingular logo. Since the "Raising the bar" is soo small, it probaly wouldnt show up on the phone. So i cropped it a bit, but find that its alittle light. Feel free to adjust it and repost.

As in removing the current logo and just displaying whatever text the operator uses? Yeah, just use FExplorer and delete the C:\System\Apps\Phone directory (all it should contain is a directory with the logo in it anyway), then restart your phone.

You must have already had that virus as there are no executable files in the Zip to carry a virus payload to your computer (nor are any of the files JPG to take advantage of taht Windows GDI flaw). You can't get a virus from a BMP, TXT, or Zip file in and of itself.

...but all I see is the same generic Cingular logo I have always had. Any ideas???

Yea for some reason i had mine set and it still didnt show up. Oh well, doesnt go well with the theme anyway. Its shows up as a white background, so it like alittle white box with the Cingular inside. Looks crappy, so back to normal.

Is the firmware that much different? I thought it was just WAP/MMS settings and maybe some themes/wallpapers/ringtones. Wouldnt it be a different version number? V 2.14.1 is whats on my, Cingular branded.

well provider firmware can lock out certain functions where the generic firmware wont...thats the difference here really...

i have an unbranded 7610 and it accepted an op logo for about 2 seconds, and this happened about 2 days after i set it as an op logo. then it went away. and i've tried all variations on how to do this including searching the forums. i wonder if it is a sim card issue... but then again, it did work for 2 seconds. which would lead me to believe that it can work again! i shall prevail!

sorry, i'm a fan of the movie braveheart. but hopefully i'll figure this out .

Ive come to the conclusion that Op logo is a waste of time for me. Reason being that when you use a Op logo with theme, it will place a white box that the logo sits in, unless you get it to match the background of your theme, doesnt seem like it would be nice to have that messing your theme colors up =)

That's why you create your own logo.

It's not that hard to make. I was able to change the logo on my 7610, but can't seem to get it to stick on my 6260. Cingular seems to have two different MCC/MNC combos now. One is 310_17_0.bmp and the other is 310_380_0.bmp. I guess it might be the att merger. The 310_380_0.bmp works on my 6260 sometimes when it roams I guess, but I can't get the 310_17_0.bmp to work, which is the network that is usually used. Has anyone been able to change their oplogo on a 6260? Please help!

Same here, i was playing around some more and was in a library. My op logo showed up for the whole time. I went outside to make a call, about 10mins later and it was back to normal. I think I was picking up the weaker signal of ATT, but Fexplorer set it to the number for ATT network. So when cingular shows up, it doesnt have the correct number to show the op.

Im using the 64k sim in my Cingular branded 6620.

The carriers aren't limited to having one MCC assigned. T-Mobile USA, for instance, has several.

So this would mean making a bunch of duplicates with the several MNC_MCC filenames if you want to cover them all.

Look in your phone's ROM drives enough and you'll find a large text file that, for each country and carrier, lists them all...

i just made the logo..

my network setting was set to manual and i lost reception. so when i looked at my phone i saw the fido oplogo that i loaded.. but it didn't look very nice with the theme i was using.. but was cool to see though.

i went to see my friend at fido, to test out the BL-6C battery.. man, that's a tight fit into the 6620.. you basically have to force it in...
you know if anyone modded the back plate to accept it easier?

my 6620 has older FW so i can use straight MP3's as ringtones....if i get flashed with a diff FW, will i lose this "older" feature? because ive used ALL the methods of changing my oplogo....but they havent worked,one of the "just cant do it" cases.

on my nokia 6630 seams like the uplogo doesn't work anymore after i change my simcard,my old sim was an ST32 and the new one is SM32,i change the old one because i damage it,but now with this new sim card from fido the uplogo doesn't work anymore i tried all the options,can some one tell me what's semas to be the problem??

Probably the easiest way for you to do it is to grab FExplorer and install it, if you haven't already. When you are on the network you want to logo, select the .bmp off of your C: or E: drive with FExplorer and chose a function off a menu that reads "Set as operator logo" (or something very similar)

I have a special N-Gage logo that I made off of original EPS, if anyone is interested. Especially for ppl who have an N-Gage and know their provider pretty well by now. Also, made a couple of T-Mobile ones, German style. Right now, I've got my QD back from warranty service (detached grip) and am restoring my stuff to it.

Oops!

I failed to mention that nothing I have tried works so far! I have tried FExplorer as well as SeleQ and OpMan to no avail. I have also tried storing the image file in the appropriate directory.

The only thing that appears where the logo should be is the text, "Cincinnati Bell". But OpMan shows the logo in use, even though it does not appear.

Is there a special way to name the file (for the carrier)? What are the image file format specifications? .GIF? .BMP? colors? file size? etc.

I'm having problems getting it to work.... I have a nokia 6620 with cingular and I cant change the op logo at all.... I got so many threads with this topic... I'm able to change the font on my 6620 but I can NEVER get the op logo!!!! HELP!!!
