Trying to get in on the free ringtones for the LG 44. Since I can't right click to save the midi file on my comp. I'm hving trouble getting in on the fun, anyone know a way past this on a MAC & recommend a couple of spots to load from? Happy Holidays

Can't right click? Two button mice work with the mac. If you don't have one, hold the "command" key down, and then click on the file link with your mouse.

if it's a link you're trying to download, hold down option while clicking it (it'll either download it to the desktop/your default download location or prompt you where to download it) or hold down control (not command) while clicking (which is the same as right-clicking) and select "download link to disk..." or whatever.

if it's an embedded midi and you can see the controller and such, click on the button on the far right of the controller (it's a triangle pointing down) and select "save as source...," though i suspect that may be a quicktime pro-only feature. if it is, and you don't have that far-right button, you'll have to hunt through the page's source and find the link to the embedded midi.

Gracias for the help. Have you gotten the Radio Shack cable to work for you? I didn't buy the disk, didn't think i needed it. But my MAC can't find the port to talk to the phone.

i followed the instructions here: http://www.videogamexchange.com/sites/lg4400/

make sure you buy the radio shack cable that has 170-0783 above the barcode (it uses the phone's serial rather than usb port, the usb port has some timeout issues as i understand it).

the version of bitpim from the above link was always really fussy for me. note that the phone has a tendency to change its port back to usb and closed a _lot_.

i just checked bitpim.sf.net, and it seems they have an official os x version out now, though it's panther-only and i'm still stuck on jaguar, so i can't give you any help there.

Thank you for the link, i'm downloading all the addons, it's alot more than i thought was necessary but it's a HUGE help. Thank you again, let you know how well it works, if i can discifer all the lingo.

Props to all ya'll help, having big problem installing wxpython and pyserial. And I have the new OS Python. I guess i'm not comp. savvy enough to load the string I'm directed to type into the terminal. Just wanted to say Merry Xmas. Any other suggests are welcome. If perfect previous link subbed by cerfsud worked for anyone holla at a newbe who can't get it done.

require all the command line stuff.

Go to http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/ and get to the Mac OSX link a couple screens down. It's just a double-clickable program now.

Go to Radio Shack and buy the cable for the VX10...DO NOT BUY THE ONE FOR THE 4400...it will NOT work with BitPim.

You will need to download the drivers: http://www.ramelectronics.net/downl...03_v106.zip.tgz

Then when you fire up BitPim, the com port setting will be: /dev/tty.usbserial0

Works great with 10.3 and my Powerbook

OH MY LORD you are a LIFESAVER!!!
Why does NO ONE tell you to change the port?
Yeeeeesh. Thank you!

Glad it worked for you. Have you actually gotten the ringtones and wallpaper to download, I see the phone book but NOTHING else on the display.

Holla

That's what appeared on mine as well- it doesn't get the standard ringtones and wallpaper from your phone.

Try dragging in a ringtone you like, then going to Data and "Send To Phone"...
There'll be a progress bar along the bottom. Then, in your phone, go to where the ringers are- and then go to "More" in the lower right, and go not to Default, but to "Downloaded," and it should be there!

Same goes for wallpapers. 120 x 98 pixels. Good luck!
